My girlfriend has an 08 sante fe with the v6 and its awesome, lots of room and lots of power. We looked around and test drove the crv and rav but compared to the sante they were small and gutless

We have an 09 or 10 Rav (the first year the no spare tire option was available), when we were looking at trucks I sat in the redesigned Rav and I hated it. It's way more on the crossover side rather than a small SUV, plus no V6 or turbo and Toyota shot themselves in the foot.

Had a sante fe for years...loved it. Was finally time to trade it in, but I couldn't afford what I wanted in the new sante fe. Looked at the crv and rav4 but ended up with a Dodge Journey SXT V6. Love the power.

There were rumors Toyota was going to put a turbo 4 cylinder in the Rav for 2015 to compete with the Santa Fe, Sorento, etc but so far nothing is official. I wouldn't bet on it. Toyota really lost a lot of potential buyers when they dropped the V6

Not really; there's a few people here and there that complain about the lack of a six, but the reason it was discontinued was because they weren't selling enough of them outside of places places like Alberta.

As far as I know, Toyota's big leap forward to boost engine performance is going to be widespread use of direct-injection engines; they want nothing to do with turbos, and even bolting one onto the FR-S is something they're very reluctant to do.

Either way - the new Rav is gutless, ugly and isn't selling (here)

Can't disagree on point one, two is subjective and three isn't the case where I am.

Truthfully, the best driving compact SUV out there for my money is the Tiguan. If you drive one of those head to head with any of the stuff in discussed in this thread, it's not even a debate.

It's definitely the most refined and nicest quality but my issue with the Tiguan is that if you option it out to get NAV and HID lights (items you get in the competition for under $40k) it gets well into the $40's which IMO isn't good value for a car of that size.

We bought a 2011 crv ex-l today, got a pretty great deal on it and it came with some great options (leather heated seats, 2 way car starter, etc..) we're quite happy with it. thanks again for all your guys' input.

Agreed; the value for dollar isn't there, it's not the most versatile compact ute out there either. It takes premium fuel.

But it's an AWD GTI engine with 8 inches of ground clearance. The thing is a blast.

My brother bought a 2013 sante fe. Nice vehicle. He hates how bad it is on gas though. He gets the same as my f150.

Took a Santa Fe for a test drive yesterday. Great vehicle. The heated seats were great. Not sure about gas mileage though. It did have some power and likely a bit quicker than most

I was just going over the paper work, and i noticed back in sept when the crv was at 52k (now its at 72K), the tires were at 6 and 32nds tire tread. is that something that i should be worried about? should i stick to my guns and see if the dealer would change them for me, or do i have any other options?

I was previously driving a 99 Rav4 and just upgraded to a 2013 CX-5.

Loving it so far.

Not sure about exact depth but I know there's a quick test you can do using a penny to determine the amount of tread left and whether they need to be changed out. My guess is yes since you did 52k on them but could be wrong. I assume they've been rotated? Are they all season? Usually the dealer notes it as an item that requires attention if they think it's bad. They do that even if it's not that bad to increase their revenues (by selling more products)
