Default 2 for 1! Central Scoutings' Rankings Combined + E-Mac's War Room Rankings

& E-Mac's Exclusive Midterm War Room Rankings at THW.

The sometimes annoying and difficult to compare segregated rankings of NHL Central Scouting are combined in one palatable table as well as E-Mac's January rankings.

Link - click here

It'll be interesting to see how they stack up against Bob McKenzie's rankings which will be released tonight.

THN's Ryan Kennedy also recently released his midterm rankings.

A divergence of opinion as to who goes #1.

I'll go on record that it is my gut feeling is that the Flames end up with Aaron Ekblad from this draft class. Call it the Burkie Factor or what have you...

Don't really understand the allure of Draisaitl.

I know the GM of Prince Albert and we were chatting about Draisaitl in the summer. At that time he told me that he wouldn't be surprised if Draisaitl moved his way up to a top two pick.

Said it took him some time to get used to the game in N.A. last year but once he got going later in the season he became dominant. Talked about him being the most talented player they have had there in his time in P.A. and it not even being close.

Big, skilled, and plays with an edge. I don't watch him enough to have any sort of an opinion on him but doesn't surprise me that scouts love him for those reasons.

He reminds me of Monahan-lite. And don't get me wrong, I like Monahan.

I just never notice him whenever I'm able to watch him. He'll pick up an assist here and there, but otherwise nothing I see that warrants a top 3 pick.

Does that include Mike Modano? A comparison would be cool.

OK - take 2

E-Mac is short for Eldon MacDonald, my junior hockey insider out East, who put together the spreadsheet.

Interesting list compared to NHL CS (McKenzie's, that is)

Who is Eldon MacDonald? Can't find anything on him in a web search to see if he's credible.

Hi New Era - you're not likely to find much further info on Eldon - he's been my colleague for a number of years at The Hockey Writers (THW) helping me out with profiling prospects out East. As far as credibility, he is not affiliated with anyone else or worked for any hockey teams - I can just vouche that he has a keen eye for talent - like many, he nails some and misses out on others, but on the whole he's been a more than reliable & trustworthy source for me, and often has unique insight and spin on players. Take that for what it's worth.

The big red flag for me regarding Draistadl is he uses a flat stick with a huge blade. How many top 6 forwards use a flat stick currently. The only one I can think of is Conroy.

I believe Ryan Smyth for another. Many of Ryan's goals have bounced in off of him though

If it would mean McKenzie compiling a top 90, 100 or 120 I'd be all for it!

I have season tickets for the raiders. I can attest that he is by far the most talented forward they have had in a long time. He is big, fast, has a wicked shot and uses his size to his advantage. Whoever picks him will be very pleased
