Even though Breen hasn't shown much but you know he will fight if challenged.

Why would they be upset? They are already 2 defensemen down and SOB fought that thug Kassian, what good will that do if he too gets kicked out of the game. That means 3 D down while Canucks plays with 4. I think there is a right time for him to fight Kassian and that time was not the right time. Unless we are the Oilers who doesn't care if we lose.

Read through most of the thread. Do we know if Breen has been recalled or not? I'm not a fan at all. He might be a player some day, but Breen has no place in the NHL right now. Hoping there is a trade coming...

I agree with everything you are saying. My problem is that i don't see a team wanting SOB unless we ate 50% of his salary. Even then i doubt his worth would be that much. Like i said in the other post, just imagine the kind of crap Burke would have to take back in a player for player trade/ money for money.
Personally i would just put SOB in the pressbox for the rest of the year.

I think that the only way that we are able to trade SOB is if we package him with someone else

Yes I know, that is totally logical but Hartley's actions in the brawl plus the whole Scott Parker thing have me wondering how important being tough and intimidating means to him.
At this point in the season, does the score really matter? The Vancouver game was personal to Hartley, he wanted to get Tortorella pissed off and he wanted to push Tortorella's team around. SOB wasn't really with the program that night despite being that kind of player.

If there is something coming besides a simple send down/recall - NHL may have wanted them to wait until after the outdoor game to announce it.

Good point. I'm sure anything more than a minor leaguer for minor leaguer would probably have to wait.

Well if that was Hartley's intention then he shouldn't coach this team. He is putting his personal stuff ahead of the team. What good is it if Wideman, Giordano or Brodie gets injured because they were too tired playing so many minutes in the game?
The reason being put on waivers does not boil down to one game but I am pretty sure the last game vs Nashville was the last straw. You have a player making so much money and hardly on the lineup. Then when he was put in to the lineup, he didn't give himself a favour by playing awful.
Also, I think Brian Burke is playing the waiver gamble hoping someone will pick up SOB, so they can get rid of one contract and an expensive player who just sits in the pressbox. He tried it with Smith but so far no takers. I think Burke would rather get rid of SOB for nothing. If he tried trading him, it means the other team might give one bad contract plus a draft pick or a borderline prospect. That won't help the Flames though. Now the SOB clears, Burke have 3 options : send him to Abby, let him stay in Calgary or buy him out.

Someone is obviously getting the call from Abbotsford, though it would be amusing if we recalled Cundari from Chicago.

The way this is going down I'd lean towards a trade. Otherwise why the shroud of mystery and delay in who gets the call up? Not standard procedure. My tin foil hat is telling me something more substantial is happening.

Perhaps the call up depends on Smid's status.
If Smid is questionable, they might bring up someone that might benefit from the ice time.
If Smid is ready to go, they bring up someone who's development won't be hurt sitting in the pressbox (i.e. Smith)
