Save PCT is a factor but doesn't tell the whole story of goaltender performance in my opinion. Save PCT can be modified by the defensive pairings playing in front of you, the skill and speed of other teammates. The fact is a good offence minimizes defensive requirement, good defence minimizes shot opportunity, rebounds and makes the goalies job easier.
I think that I posed the question because it was rumoured that there was interest from Toronto at that time. I also think he was still an NHL calibre goaltender that could have continued to play with success.

Meh, if a team had a choice between Reimer, Bernier, and Kipper at trading deadline last year, the GM of that team would likely pick Kipper 100% of the time. Most of the goalies around the league - hot one year, cold the next. Goalies like Kipper and Brodeur, pretty consistent every year. Yeah, ppl get on their cases on a few bad goals, but Kipper is legendary with too many highlight reels to brag about. Kipper all the way, baby. I'm a Kipper loyalist as much as I am an Iggy loyalist. |

Kipper actually wasn't that consistent. He was easily worse than both Reimer and Bernier last season. He had a bigger name base on his past success, but he was easily 3rd best out of the 3.

Toronto still would've taken him over Reimer and Bernier.

Perhaps the main factor if they got Kipper was that the Leafs might not have had the picks that the Kings wanted for Bernier.

If it's true what a mistake that would have been. Ben Scrivens was better than Kipper last season.

I'm assuming BigTuna is a Leafs fan no? That explains the ignorance.

What is ignorant exactly? Kipper was a washed-up has-been last season. Reimer was terrific last year.

I don't know, I've met actual Leafs fans that aren't that bad, so it's hard to say. Just a guy who likes hanging out on the Flames message board for no discernible reason I guess.

They wanted him last year... they obviously don't trust Reimer and didn't trust Scrivens despite their better numbers.
