Some interesting names in McKenzie's 30ish range for the Flames 2nd round pick.
Anton Karlsson
Ryan MacInnis
Brycen Martin
Josh Ho-Sang
Jack Dougherty
Conner Bleackley

Would really like if we could grab Scherbak or MacInnis with that 30ish pick.
Scherbak being a Russian is a little scary though.

MacInnis looks promising. Even I'd he possessed one tenth of his dads shot he'd make a fine pick. And at 6'4", has the size to be a Burke pick.

I wish Ho-Sang was a bit bigger. Enjoyed watching him at the top prospects game.

Can't wait for the draft, season's boring with only Monahan to watch.

If we don't end up dead last this year, I see Burke moving heaven and earth to get his hands on Ekblad before Edmonton does. There are sexier picks for sure but stud dmen like he is projected to be are far and few between. He is a Burke type player IMO, big, smart and is physical enough to be considered truculent! :-)
We don't want Edmonton to get him and have to play against him for the next 15 years.

If, as it stands we pick 3rd, Buffalo might be open to trading down, as they probably don't need another defenceman.

Goldobin at 5'11"? He looked about 5''7" at most at the prospects game, at least on TV? Downfall on him? Just size? Anyone see him more this year?

I don't see it happening. I think Edmonton is getting Ekblad, unless they actually show up for some games in the 2nd half. Burke can offer anything he wants, but the only player Edmonton wants is Ekblad, and i think they will match anything Burke has to offer.
Buffalo is sitting pretty if they win the draft lottery. They will have Edmonton and Calgary trying to get Ekblad. If Edmonton offers what Calgary does then Buffalo will trade with them and only move down one spot.

Posted this article about Goldobin a few pages back:

One of, if not the most offensively talented players in this draft class from the OHL.
Goldobin doesn’t come without his warts which is why you’ll see him ranked all over the place in independent rankings. First among those warts is the “Russian Factor”. Of course you have to weigh that in, but it’s tough to pass up an electrifying offensive threat. But when you consider that he passed up playing in the KHL and a chance to earn some big money for two seasons to play in the OHL that threat has to be considered somewhat less worrisome.
Secondly, there are worries about his defensive game, or lack of it. Again, you have to consider the offensive upside he brings. We are strong believers that what he brings to the table cannot be taught. However, defense, whether team defense or individual defense, is something that a patient team can and will teach.
Finally, there is some worry about his work ethic. Goldobin worked hard in the offseason to add some bulk to his frame. However, it’s his on ice work ethic that comes into question but that is in his game away from the puck.

So Russian factor pretty much gone, if we pick up a second 1st would we look hard at him if he falls a bit like most Russians do? Do a miracle draft and get Ekblad early and a huge offensive threat with our second 1st? I'm not big into Russians but his numbers so far are hard to ignore and as they say defence can be taught.

I think Draisaitl is tanking cause he knows a big, heavy, skilled centerman is exactly what Edmonton needs.
I actually like him, and Bennett... Bennett more.

I've thought about this too. Seems like a possibility. I just really don't want to see Edmonton end up with Ekblad.
I think Edmonton might finish last though. They are so, so bad.

Edmonton doesn't have a 2nd, 3rd or 4th, no?
I like our odds of moving up more than theirs.

It sounds like I'm alone in wanting Dal Colle if Edmonton somehow gets their grubby tanking mitts on Ekblad.

Looks like they've traded away their own 2nd, 3rd, and 4th picks, but acquired San Jose's 4th. The difference between the Oilers' 4th and the Sharks' 4th will likely be about 20-25 spots.
