A fair trade both parties.

Klein is underrated. Del Zotto is overrated IMO.

It evens out.

Klein has 3 points in 47 games and is -11.

I think the Rangers could have done better.

I think this is a really even trade.

Klein is solid but needs a smaller role to be successful and the Preds could use a less defensively solid but more dynamic guy like Del Zotto.

Works really well for both teams.

Meh. He's never going to be a top pairing guy IMO. Klein may not be offensively as flashy but he's probably better suited to what AV wants in an all around defender.

Klein is a solid defenceman signed at a reasonable rate (2.9M) for a few years. Del Zotto is a pending RFA and with an uncertain payday, as well as Del Zotto being pushed down the depth chart, it makes sense on that level. Del Zotto may go on to be the better player, but this is a move for stability over risk

I think this means the end of Girardi in NY either by trade or FA. Klein isn't as good as him, but after Girardi gets paid almost assuredly be better value.

Chris Nichols@Nichols_NHLPool2 mins

So in one week, #Preds deal Kevin Klein in first season of five-year, $14.5M deal & Matt Hendricks in first season of four-year, $7.4M pact.

Wonder if this will come back to bit them with future FAs.

I dont think they're trying to shed salary, Hendricks was just dramatically underperforming for his pay grade and they needed more mobility and offence from their blueline, they werent going to get that out of Klein and the solidity of the rest of their defencemen made Klein expendable.

It is fair. Two completely different type of Dmen that find a better fit.

He gets a pass for being so good in "Fish Called Wanda".

Del Zotto doesn't have anyone believing he can be a top pairing guy this season. He hasn't been good from what I've heard.

I wonder if the Rangers would be looking at dealing another D.
LH - McDonagh, Staal, Falk, Moore
RH - Girardi (assuming resigned), Klein, Stralman

2-3 solid D prospects in the system as well.

Del Zotto on the PP with Weber? Might develop some chemistry there.

Good trade for both teams I suppose, agree that Klein is underrated.
