Cammy and flames talking extension
During the Edmonton game they had the insiders on and they mentiond that Cammalleri and Burke were talking extension buts its believed that Burke wont pay market price so option 2 is trade him and the asking price is a first and a prospect.

I feel that after the Stajan extension these "insiders" are now just throwing names out there and say they're also talking contracts trying to sound smart if it comes to pass.
I like Roger Millions, good host, good interview but he's never been much of an insider. Ditto for the Edmonton guys. Hell, Roger had Cammaleri asking for a trade in the summer.

Hmmmmm, so pretty much he's as good as traded. That's great news.

Burke has stated he is not happy with aspects of the team. If he signs Cammy then expect that Hudler is ion the way out

Not sure what kind of Payday Cammi is expecting. He's aging, and his play is not getting any better. He was given the opportunity to be the leader on offense this year, and really hasn't taken advantage. Tied for team lead in goals with Hudler and Monahan, and 3rd in points, behind Hudler and Gio, and barely ahead of the young guys.
Not sure there will be many teams interested in paying him anything near what he is making now.
Hopefully Burke is putting the pressure on him to sign for less, with no clause, so his trade value climbs even higher.
The only way I'd like to see Cammi here next year, is if he's traded before the deadline, for a decent package. Goes UFA, and Burke offers him a short term payday contract to bring the cap up.

Gotta be a sign and trade, hopefully with some retained salary so we can get a really good return. Give Cammy some options on where he is going and have the trade worked out contingent on the contract. Win-win-win.

Honestly I don't think it'd be horrible to keep him for another year and trade him next deadline instead. But only if the price is right. Sign and trade wouldn't be a bad idea either, could increase his value out there especially if we retain some salary.

Right
Yeah I can just see Brian trying to re sign old news and more old news and were scooped.
Then making comments that he's not scared to make a huge trade.
We shall see.

When was the last time a sign and trade occurred in the NHL? It doesn't happen.

I highly doubt many teams would give up their 2015 first without a very good reason. The risks are simply too high with the draft looking as good as it is. And ain't nobody giving up blue chip prospects for Cammy, especially if we wait for him to grow another year older.
The time to move him is now IMO.

I just don't see Burke standing pat even if he does retain Cammy. I think other players under contract will have to be up for grabs. It would be shocking if he kept Cammy without moving someone else.

I am going to assume Burke has a plan and that re-signing all of the vets are not part of the solution (aka sign and trade). Because if that is the plan, to keep our existing vets, I fail to see how the audition for Burke that is this season has done a great job of selling the fact that we need to keep as many players as we can on this roster outside of 2 or 3 elite youngsters.
Signing a player gives him leverage in trades however. Stajan included in that. Note the absence of no-trade clauses.

That's because it usually doesn't make sense, especially in the cap world. Teams are mostly up against the cap or have internal budgets. If Burke was telling the truth about being willing to retain salary to maximize value then it is a big bargaining chip. Not counting on it but it would vastly increase his value on the trade market.

I hope this isn't true.
Cammalleri is probably the guy I don't want back the most. Unless the game is nationally televised he is a no show. But he will score his goals but look completely useless the rest of the game.
