Refresh my memory... how many #1 draft pics do they have on their roster right now? What's their highest finish in the last 4 years (if we call it a 4 year rebuild)?
Dude when it comes to the Canucks, it could be a team of Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, Augusto Pinochet, Josef Stalin and Kim Jong Il and if one of them scores against the Canucks you take it.

On February 27th 2007 the Oilers traded their longtime fan favourite Ryan Smith.
They then also traded Joffery Lupul and Jason Smith on July 1st in the off-season.
Over the next season they also traded Joni Pitkanen, Raffi Torres, Matt Greene, and Jarrett Stoll.
They may not have been in the full on tank rebuild they have been in the last 5 seasons, but they certainly were trying to rebuild that team and were making wholesale changes to the roster.
Personally I would say the Oilers rebuild started on February 27th 2007.

So you are saying trading all the vets ala Oilers is a bad idea. Because that same blueprint is what many here are asking for.
I want to write a letter back to katzs, it would go something along the lines of this. "F you and your dumbass friend Lowe. Oh ya cut your friggen hair you clown!
You forgot to mention his fat kid that is at every draft.

I agree but their tank-build model began in 09/10

I know this will almost certainly be the eighth consecutive year since we made the playoffs. I hate that fact as much as anyone, but the reality is that this is only year four of the rebuild that started when we drafted Taylor Hall.
Yeah except when the Flames drafted 6th overall, 22nd overall and 28th overall after trading their long time captain everyone and their dog knew this was the first draft of their rebuild.
The Oilers drafted 6th overall, 15th overall and 21st overall in 2007 while trading their long time captain. I guess that was just the prebuild.

Reason: Edit: Smith was traded a couple days after the draft
