of Stajan, Stempniak and Cammy, I think Stajan has the least value on the trade market. The Flames need to keep some vets around. He's worth more to the Flames than a 3rd or 4th he would have returned in a trade. Trade the other two

Seems odd as he is a perfect fit for the 3rd line but if so where do Backlund and/or Colborne play?

I guess Stajan can be a top two guy during rebuild if need be.

I don't hate it that much because we do need vets and he seems capable as a defensive center to play against other teams top lines which Backlund/Colborne can't and Monahan shouldn't and he seems competent at FO's which is something the team is lacking right now.

Hopefully a 2 or maybe 3 year deal. Not too keen if it is 4 or more years.

As long as he isn't getting overpaid, I am ok with this. He is a great guy to have in the locker room and does his job. He isn't a top line guy, but can lead the roll of a 2nd or 3rd line.

We need a #1 center, we know that. #2 is Backlund right now, he is playing well. #3 Stajan, I am ok with.

This sounds awful. Obviously wait for the details, but Stajan has no place on a winning team.

People say he is a decent #3. No he isn't. On paper he might be but when he isnt given top 6 icetime he is completely invisible. Like when he first came to the Flames and lost the 1c spot.

He has been given icetime by default and has still only looked alright with ample oppourtunity

This makes me worry about what he's going to do with Backlund.

Maybe they going to try and keep Colborne as a winger?

Not a bad thing. I didn't want to see Monahan lining up against top DMen next season. Was hoping to target someone in free agency, but there isn't much out there.

Knight, Backlund, Monahan, Reinhart, Colborne.

I'd rather see any combination of these 4 players in the lineup over Stajan.

Probably 4M per. If it's longer than 2 years, I don't care what the cap hit is - it'll suck and it's a bad choice.

Not too surprised - I see it as more of an insurance policy than anything else

Colborne has been playing the wing, some of us suggested that's where he'll find a place in the NHL when he was traded here and I hope he sticks there.

Out of all the vets it makes the most sense for him too stay so I'm not that upset, but I think he could have brought back decent package. A month ago he was playing his best hockey as a Flame but lately he's been pretty poor.

Not a fan of this tbh. I was hoping he was going to move him. I do suspect a guy like Backlund could be on the move or Colborne moved permanently to the wing

Not my favorite idea, but as long as it's a fair deal for a 2nd/3rd line tweener center, and doesn't have a NTC or NMC I can live with it I guess.

He's on 3.5M now, right? Surely he can't get much more than that.
