I don't know, I think showing restraint may have been the better option. Can't have our coach getting suspended, especially when his future with the Flames is in question so much lately

Agreed. Always liked him but this sealed it. And my McGrattan jersey has been ordered.

There's no way. Hartley was calm and collected while being verbally accosted from the NHL's resident lunatic.

I think the entire coaching staff handled themselves with respect. Clint got a little carried away, but as I said, the guy is BA.

What good would stooping to Torts level and get suspended do?

Hartley made the right choice as the situation was under control. What exactly do you think would happen if he stood front and centre and challenged Torts? 99.9% sure we would be discussing a massive brawl in a hallway and a game stopped because of it rather then laughing at a Canucks coach that lost it.

Wow! Crappiest interpretation of last night ever! After The way Bob ignored Torts on the bench and then the awesome cameo, he is total win.

I believe I mentioned it when Hartley was hired, but he has never had a problem sending the guys out to send a message.

Message sent.

And the aftermath couldn't have been more entertaining. Damn McGratton is a big dude on skates.

If anything the people showing the most restraint there were McGratton and OBrien. Imagine if one of our mouthy players (Hudler) had been at the front of the fracas.

I've never heard this before. Is this true that Hudler is very chirpy?

He seems to be right in the middle of many altercations on the bench or scrums after the whistle. He certainly isn't a shrinking violet out there and definitely has a bit of a temper to him as well.

Torterella is a lucky man. Martin Gelinas was there to do two things, but he still had bubblegum.

I thought it was "Go F Yourself" originally, but it may be "You're no F'ing ref".

Gelinas would eat Tortorella alive. Man I wish I could have seen what would have happened if McGrattan wasn't there.

Not sure how you see that, he didn't make a fool of himself on the bench and handled it like a pro and then while at the dressing room he said what he had to say and left it at that.

If anything Hartley's inaction showed his confidence in his players that they were going to act professional in a situation and they did. IMO the Flames showed nothing but class. If Hartley had acted the like Torts there could have been a bunch of suspensions and someone probably would have gotten hurt. If anything this Video shows Hartley does have control of his team.

Thumbs up to the Flames for not taking Torts bait and patiently keeping things from getting out of control.
