Default Remember... Kirill Kabanov?

I thought this warranted its own thread considering there were a lot of people who thought we should have drafted Kabanov, and were angry Flames picked Reinhart instead of this guy.

Quote:
Kirill Kabanov is on his way to Sweden.
Kabanov, the Islanders’ third-round pick (65th overall) at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, has been assigned to MoDo of the Swedish Hockey League, the Isles announced on Friday. The move marks another big shift for Kabanov, a talented prospect that’s had a colorful past — to say the least (see here and here and here).

I think that it wasn't a bad pick for the Isles, IIRC they had a lot of picks in the first two rounds so they could take a risk on this guy, but I'm glad we evaded this basket case and got Max Power instead.

in that draft? No they didn't. They picked Niederreiter at 5 and Nelson at 30, then Kabanov at 65. Horrible draft for them ... they mismanaged Nino and gave him away for very little, Kabanov is a bust and none of the later picks will make it either. They only have Nelson to show for ... he's a good prospect though.

very happy that we drafted Max Power instead of Kabanov.

Ah, my bad. I got the 2010 draft mixed with the 2008 one. In 08, they had 7 picks in the first three rounds. Still, it hurt them a lot less drafting Kabanov that it would have the Flames.

It's easy to see why that franchise is a mess, though.

Too bad about this kid.

His Dad, showing up late to meetings, self-entitlement issues. Just some of the things that formed an anchor around his neck, and is sinking what could have been a very, very talented hockey player.

The flesh is willing, but the spirit is ######y.

Another mercurial, enigmatic Russian. Who would have guessed?

At least with Burkie in charge, we don't have to worry about drafting any of those goddamn commies. Seriously though, what is with those guys? By and large, far more prone to be a head case than anyone else.

Every single player involved in that photo shoot looked ridiculous.

Seems alright

Not bad other than being a Greaser.

Nothing wrong with that..

Although the motif of the pictures is not all that great, Kabanov just seems to bring a bit more crazy to the photo.. along with the fact that the 3 links in the original post also bring up some red flags in regards to his character.

But keep talking in absolutes.

Reinhart was the better pick but it's not like picking Kabanov would have robbed the team of a difference maker. If Reinhart makes the team it's going to be full time bottom six which seems to be par for the course with Darryl Sutter forward picks.

Jizees. Dumping on an entire nationality because of some hockey players?

Because bottom 6 forwards can never be difference makers...?

While I'm sure you will never be able to resist the urge to pointlessly crap all over Sutter, the fact remains, he made a better decision in picking Reinhart over Kabanov than a large majority of this forum would have.

Truth.
I'd be shocked if there were people out there who can HONESTLY say they had Reinhart over Kabanov.

Max has already shown he can play in the NHL. Kirill has shown he can't even cut it in the AHL. Your just upset that you thought this was going to blow up in the Flames face, now that your wrong you just want to spin it in a way so you don't sound stupid. Even though your posts are nothing but diarrhea most of the time.
