And what was his longest point streak this season?
You seem to want change just for the sake of change, maybe we can just trade Giordano for a couple of players.
No point trading vets right now while their value isn't maximized. Value will be at a premium come the deadline.

He's a mental midget. He's shown no indication he can play through adversity in fact he's shown that he wilts under it. A whopping 3 points in 11 games in the AHL and by all reports it's not bad luck as he's floating and avoiding tough areas of the ice. Right now he's more "can't make it" than "can't miss" prospect. He needs time to mature and right now the best place for him is in Abbotsford.

I think you'll see plenty of patience when the rebuild starts actually building something positive. So far it seems all the flames have built is a wonderfully oiler-ish attitude that losing is just a-ok.

I must have missed all these other trades going on in the NHL while Burke is on 'holidays' (which apparently involves going to see our college prospects and scouting other NHL teams).
Look at all of these blockbusters: http://www.tsn.ca/tradecentre/feature/?id=11986 we've missed out on.

And lets face it, the younger players we have up right now haven't shown a whole lot more than the vets over this stretch. It's easy to use confirmation bias to point fingers at the veterans, but they were the ones that drove the bus on the Colorado win, even as the kids led us to the win in Carolina. In the other games over this stretch, nobody has looked good overall.
This is a tough stretch. But as frustrating as it is, the only way to work through it at this point is to just let the players fight through and figure it out. Trades aren't going to pick up until after the Olympic break, and there's no point replacing the coach until Burke hires his puppet for the GM chair.

My guess Burke will make a few moves right before the Olympic break. Most likely a pending UFA for a mid teir draft pick type of a trade
Until then I doubt anything happens with the exception of activating injured players from the IR.

I'm kinda with the OP. Hopefully there are a bunch of things on the go behind the scenes that we don't know about and will come to fruition soon. I don't expect any blockbusters or quick fixes, just a few UFA's out the door for prospects/picks/etc.

Baertschi was awful this season and the AHL is where he should be.
No, you're not drinking the Burke koolaid but you're quite obviously drinking the Baertschi koolaid.

You wait until you get your best return. I'm sure Burke could move Cammy right now for 2nd round pick or something, but I'd rather he wait until he feels he's got the highest possible return instead of making a move to placate the fanbase until the next time the team gets whipped.

Not sure what people expect it takes two teams to make deals and it doesn't appear that a ton of teams are ready to make their moves just yet. Throw in the fact that there are a lot of unmovable guys on the roster (SOB, D. Jones, Wideman, Galiardi, McGrattan) and we are stuck with the vets for the time being.
I think Stempniak, Cammalieri and possibly Stajan will all be moved closer to the deadline opening up spots for young guys.
I would prefer that the first year pro's stay down in Abbotsford. They are having decent seasons for first year guys but nobody is setting the AHL on fire or showing that they need to come up.
I would like to see Reinhart up right now and don't see any reason why he isn't. He should be in while Galiardi or McGrattan sit in the PB.
Defensively I don;t really see any guys that make sense to bring up. Breen was awful, Cundari has been unimpressive based on reports. I don't much point in bringing up guys like Billins or Hanowski who look like career AHLer's at this point.

The franchises with long-term success in the NHL (Detroit, San Jose) do very little trading. They build patiently through the draft. That's what the Flames are going to have to do. Each season, a few young players will trickle into the lineup. A few young players in the lineup will get a little better. The GM might switch out a few pieces on the periphery, but the core of this team will be drafted. And it will take years for them to develop. That's just the way it goes.

I have patience for a rebuild, and I can take the losing, but when it seems like the players are giving no effort, it's tough.
Earlier in the year, the Flames were at least fun to watch, even when losing. Now, they are boring and losing.
I do not like Biran Burke, he is right that big wins, but I don't like his idea of big. It's not goons that win it for you, it's big hard to move forwards with skill. It's big d-men that can also make a good first pass (or more offensively). It's a big goalie that is also athletic. It's guys like Bouma who crash and bang on your 4th line and maybe one McGratten.
I really hope that whoever Burke hires has the ability to run the team as they see fit, with minimal muddling from Burke.

Just a general lack of entertainment this year that's causing this wish for some action from the GM. Sutter used to give us a lot of things to look forward to, his farm/ranch analogies, his honesty, his wheeling and dealing etc. etc.
Feaster amused us with his incompetence.
Burke isn't being his usual self which is boring.
We need something there Brian. Not a dumb deal but geez could you take a round out of some journalist or stir the rumor mill or something. The team on the ice is putting us on ice quite literally. Either into a deep frozen comatose state or in the need for drinks with some of that frozen water!

Oh I know...like I said, I hope stuff is happening behind the scenes. I think we would have to be fools to think it is not. Just hoping Burke gets what the team needs with the UFA's he can dump.

No, why would I? It's a rebuild get used to it. The first half was nice with all the energy and hustle they showed, but it's not surprising the effort level is down as we have nooooo shot at the POs so its next to impossible to be motivated unless you're a young guy trying to prove himself in the league. Tired of it now? Just wait and see how you'll feel in 3, 4 years time.

Patience is key here. It's ignorant to believe that the best value that Burkie can get for players like Cammy, stempniak, stajan, etc. is all out there on the table right now. Burke knows who needs to move... If we do, he does. But I for one want maximum value for these players and that might just not be available right now.
As for prospects. Sven to Abby was a good move, Byron up to the bigs was a good move, signing Klimchuck and Poirier and Kanzig were good moves, and the westgarth trade sent an AHL player out in return for an energy, tough (granted borderline)NHL player.
Couldn't really ask for much more in 2 months on the job.

Guys, there is much going on behind the scenes I think, he may not be making moves right now, which I agree with, value will come at the deadline when teams are desperate and will over pay. Trust me, we NEED them to overpay for what we have, enough said.
I am not a cap watching guy but I think we need to be careful of keeping it up or are we far ahead of the floor that if we shipped all out and brought in a bunch of lower paid rookies we would be ok? I mean we want draft picks for our UFA's and not some more extra parts that amount to nothing? Unless we take on a salary dump then it may work out?
I guess all I am saying is knee jerk reactions to losing is not going to help much, if at all. We need to stay the course and hope Edmonton's knee jerk reaction trades a couple days ago help them enough to win a few more than we do over the course of the rest of the season, it would kill me to have then pick higher than us when we are in full re-build and they are supposed to be done theirs by now!

We lack patience on this board...
Take it easy, it is early.
- Give Sven at least until the end of his ELC before we give up on him.
- We will trade most of our UFA's for futures.
- We will draft in the top 3-4.
Why is everyone so impatient? Its a rebuild we need to temper our expectations. The things we want will come, but it due time..
In a year or two when Sven is playing in the NHL everyone will be back on the bandwagon..He is 21 years old. Stop trying to give up on him.
We are so far out of the playoff race we may as well hang on to the UFA's until we can get max value for them. It will be better for returns and our draft standings.
We need to build through the draft so Monahan, Backlund, Brodie, Baertschi, Gaudreau, Poirier, Klimchuk, Gillies, Ortio and our 1st rd pick this year are important pieces moving forward. But we need to be patient.
