Huh?
Burke has been president in title for 4 months, in practice for 2, and has fired the GM and AGM.
What more did you want him to accomplish in two months? How many other Presidents OR GMs do that much in two months?
Just chill. If you're getting impatient already, then you need to re-evaluate some priorities.

Feaster rushed the Jaybo trade and the 2 "prospects" we got will likely not play for the team(nor should they) beyond this season
I know I know Porier but a 1st was a given

Rebuild = GM vacation?
29 other teams are trying to get better every day. Well buffalo is debatable.
The good ones draft, develop, sign and trade over a decade to build a winner.
The dumb ones sit around doing nothing, waiting for losing to hit puberty and become winning.
I think you'll see plenty of patience when the rebuild starts actually building something positive. So far it seems all the flames have built is a wonderfully oiler-ish attitude that losing is just a-ok.

I don't think it's the rebuild that's the issue so much as what Burke is (or isn't) doing that the OP is taking issue with.
I liked the rebuild under Feaster and Weisbrod. I thought they drafted well, were working towards an identity for the team, and generally kept the atmosphere positive.
Other than acquiring Westgarth (which I wouldn't herald as a positive move) we haven't seen or heard anything from Burke that suggests the team is going in any particular direction. And the product on the ice looks accordingly stagnant.
What is he doing? And what about it necessitated the firings of Feaster and Weisbrod when they happened?
Seems fair enough to be frustrated with that, regardless of the rebuild.

I don't like Burke. Haven't hidden that at all. But OP doesn't have the slightest clue what Burke is or is not doing.

I want to see some of the older guys moved so we can have some young guys up here, at least they are fun to watch. Want to see Stajan, Stempniak, Butler, D Jones and Galiardi all traded for prospects and/or picks. Call up some kids from the heat and give em a chance. Berra should be traded as we need a solid number one goalie. I know it is important for us to get top picks but lets not tank, and i hate it when i see Flames fans cheering for a loss. Real fans want their team to win whether it means they will get a bad pick or not.

Burke signed Klimchuk and Poirier.
There hasn't been a draft, Sven was sent down to further his development, and Burke has mad a minor trade with the intention of bringing a tougher attitude to the dressing room.
Burke has literally done all of the possible things you mentioned that good rebuilds do over a decade over the past 2 months, and yet you complain.
Brilliant.

Sure, but this isn't EA NHL Hockey. Most other teams are capped out, and won't be making much in the way of deals until the deadline approaches. There's been very few trades overall in the NHL for this very reason. Some of the vets will be moved. But patience is required. On the part of both Burke, and we the fans.

I'm all in for a random firing - How about the guy that designed those 3rd jersey's?

I assume Burke is evaluating players and poring over GM resumes.
Seriously though I get the frustration - As a fan I would like to be see more of the guys from Abbotsford as call ups if that's possible.

It's frustrating, but it's in line with what should happen this year. As a few of said had, no sense making a move just to make a move.
I'm a little upset with his attitude with Sven, but that's about it. Everything else is kinda where I expected it to be.

Well played.
The dumb idea that rebuilding means we should all just learn to love losing drives me nuts. It's become the easy, meaningless answer to everything. But technically you got me. 3 of them we're gimmes and one was useless, but Burke has done all those things.
Product and fans be damned he's earned the right to coast til march.

While in a rebuild where winning isn't the #1 priority the fans should see the future on the ice, other kids like Granlund, Knight, Ferland etc should get a few games for a taste.
Hartley/Burke is in "win" mode instead of future mode and I personally can't stand it.
|
1. Sven just isn't ready yet
2. The kids will get their chance post trade deadline as we dump a bunch of vets
3. Burke isn't in win now mode IMO and nothing he's done so far would indicate that. Your coach has to coach to win, that's his job.

Nothing is good. If the Flames are going to blow it up, it should be done properly.
The worst case scenario for this season is to finish around tenth. We need a top four pick.

Seriously, you just want trades to keep things interesting. If you want public relations trades then look 2 hours north. trading to keep things interesting might be good in nhl 98, but a stupid reason to do things in the real world.

Why hot shot him up here? give him a year in the AHL to get used to the North American game, why bring him up to what has to be a pretty negative experience.

See above, do you really want Ortio lit up like a Christmas team? It took basically a year to get his confidence back after his last trip to North America

Prepare to be dissapointed, the Flames are going to leave a lot of the players on the farm this year to develop and gain confidence. Fans were pretty well warned at the start of the year that this was going to be a incredibly pathetic year. You're either going to have to accept it, or stop watching it.

Trades will occur. Kids will play...all in due time. It's time now to evaluate the players that we are determining on keeping or not.
Out of the current roster I would retain:
Monahan
Hudler
Byron
Bouma
Backlund
Colborne
Glencross
McGrattan
Russell
Gio
Brodie
Smid
Wideman
Ramo

Well you know, when I was the GM of the Calgary Flames I rebuild the franchise in one day by making 38 trades, then my xbox got the rrod and I got distracted by a butterfly
