“@Sun_Tychkowski: Right....THERE! If you freeze the frame you can see the EXACT moment when Scrivens realizes these are the Oilers, not the LA Kings”

Yakupov got Matt Cooke'd, struggled to leave the ice, Oilers get scored on as the fire drill starts on the 5-4 breaks up the ice.

It's outright embarrassing for me, as a hockey fan, to see those sorts of defensive efforts and breakdowns.

This is peewee stuff. When the defender goes to cover his post, the centre or winger covering the centre go to the front of the net.

The oilers could use some 'Junior Style Coaching Tactics'.

They need a big shake up, but they overvalue their young core and therefore won't trade them.

So we see lateral moves like yesterday. Not going to get out this 6 or 7 (or whatever it is) year rebuild if they won't make bold moves.

No surprise that Scrivens is struggling, he must miss a great defense already.

Robin Brownlee ‏@Robin_Brownlee
Scrivens save percentage through 40 minutes is .864. Already fitting right in with this bunch.

I dunno man, if Dubnyk/Labarberra/Bryzgalov/Bachman/Scrivens could make a save, they'd be right in the hunt

Nice defense Edmonton. And just after the Sportsnet crew was praising the crap out of the Oilers and talking about how great they are.

Their new goalie already looks like he wants to cry.

Scrivens is almost certainly going to leave if they don't improve their defense. Which would of course be utterly hilarious.

How on earth do you get a 3-1 off an opening faceoff?

No more Yak for the night.

“@EdmontonOilers: Nail Yakupov (head) will not return to tonight's game.”

Damnit Edmonton start winning some games. I really don't want them drafting in front of us.

Does that mean he's injured or he just decided he didn't feel like playing any more?

Matt Cooke got him trying to be cute with the puck.

Please tell me someone else just heard Quinn compare the Oilers tactics to Chicago in a positive manner.
