I like the question mark on the last one, like Legolas just isn't sure about this particular adventure.

This is an example of why I think you need to identify the right goaltender to go forward with as quickly as possible. For years the Oilers held out hope that Dubynk would be a solution in net when his potential was that of an average #1 goalie. In the meantime, the Oilers passed up on countless of opportunities to upgrade because they figured there wasn't a need to pay the price required to acquire a true #1 goaltender because they had Dubynk. Backup goalies that are deemed to no longer have #1 potential has little to negative value. The whole wait and see what we have approach when it comes to goalies with limited potential to be one of the better starting goalies in this league is simply a bad idea.

No one is going to excel as a goalie on the Oilers. The longer it takes the oilers to understand and neglect this the better. This has to be a great day for Dubnyk, and I really think he'll go on to prove himself to be a pretty good goalie. Is there a goalie around who's ever faced the quality shots he has the last 5 years?

Nope no one I can think of, his plight reminds me of Luongo when he played for the Panthers. Faced a ton of shots, yet still had relatively good numbers.

Doober will be in the AHL within two years just like the last great Oiler hope in net Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers.

He would have probably developed into Sam Gagner anyways in Edmonton.

I think most NHL goalies don't hit their stride until about 8-10 years after they were drafted, so it seems to me that making a go/no go decision as early as possible is probably a really, really bad policy.

Jebus.....just reading the Sportsnet article on Hendricks....did not realize he is a 32 year old 4th liner with a 4 year contract, what is wrong with those guys up there?

Listening to Stauffer try to justify the trade right now is hilarious.

Especially when the guest keeps telling him how dumb it was to trade for him.

Stauffer's best spin on it now is that they can just buy him out if he doesn't work. If you are talking about buying him out right now how in the world is that a good deal.

And now trying to spin the importance of bottom 6 guys so that makes it a great deal.

Well that and ditching Hendricks' terrible contract for a 32 year old grinder. By keeping half of Dubnyk's salary the Preds got a backup goaltender for a salary wash and then Dubnyk's a UFA and not going to be staring at a $3.5M contract.

I don't think that Edmonton can buy him out though.

Even if they could I dont think you waste a buyout over $1.8M when the cap is going to go up.

Sounds a bit like a lower risk David Clarkson signing

I think a better question or debate over the two Oilers moves yesterday isn't is it good or bad, but rather: "Is this anything?"

Wonder if the Oilers PR shills will find their way to this forum?

Would be even funnier if Lowe hired people to defend him on rivals mesage boards too.

He is Tim Jackman but signed longer so the Oilers do not have to worry about their Tim Jackman walking at the end of the season and having to fire sale him for a 6th rounder.

It's bad because Hendricks is pretty much useless and he's burning a roster spot for three more years.

Boohoo. At this point CP has been right a heck of a lot more than they been wrong about any moves the Oilers have made.
