Why do I get the feeling Ho-Sang will be the kid that falls into the second round ala Brandon Saad or a Tomas Tatar, ends up being one of the best draft picks going to a powerhouse club like Chicago or a Detroit? Reinhart showed incredible poise out there. A lot of these kids were playing on raw emotion, Sam was just playing his game like it was another day. I was impressed by the skating of Lemieux, he has that well balanced center of gravity thing working for him.

I went to the game with the Bantam team I coach. It was a great time and the kids really enjoyed it. The kids were sitting in a different section than us and when we went to visit them at the 1st break, they were telling us about this grumpy scout that was sitting over there, and I look over and I was like "Uhhh that's Ken Holland, GM of the Red Wings". They all kind of oo'd and ahh'd, and I guess earlier one of our players went up to him to introduce himself and Holland responded with, "Yeah I know who you are, I got you on my list". Awesome.

Sorry I'm dense, is the kind on your bantam team really on the map of the Detroit Red Wings or was he being a sarcastic ass?

Probably made the kids day. I don't see that as an ass move at all.

I still stick with Reinhart and Ekblad as the two I want the Flames to be able to pick.
It's similar to last year when it was Jones and Mackinnon who were the 1-2 for two years leading up to the draft, then in their draft year a couple of guys pass them at points during the year (Drouin, Barkov) but now in the end it is looking like those two will be the best two players.
They are so closely watched, and so much is expected of them, that I think scouts actually falsely start to underrate them and then overrate guys that they don't expect as much out of so they end up coming away more impressed.

Funny how there's so many varied opinions on the same player....I guess that's expected when you have fans playing amateur scout for one game. I know for me, my seating positioning (100s in the corner) probably skewed things, as my opinion is based almost exclusively on what I saw at my end of the ice only, ha. Either way, it was fun.
I would love to hear what some professional scouts thought of the game.

No he was just being a nice guy, give the kid a little thrill/laugh.
The kids are talented, but old enough and smart enough to know he's not ACTUALLY on the list.

Tons of GMs and scouts there. A great chance to learn about the process.

It's more likely Ho-Sang turns into another Esposito, Schremp or Kabanov who falls for good reason because he's one dimensional and unwilling to evolve.

Ekblad looks good, really quick moving the puck and looks like he is going to be a great PP QB.
Dreistadl I would avoid just because he uses a flat stick......geez Conroy 2.0

Only thing that worries me is that his skating seemed average.

Anyone else notice the horrible skating style of Mistele?
Not saying that it will hinder him. He just looked awful.

I would love to see Point fall to the 3rd round for the Flames. Dynamic player who puts up points in Moose Jaw playing on an awful team, came in as a 15 year old and had 10 points in 14 playoff games. The guy has scored at every level he has every played at.

My two cents from last night.
1. Dal collar was a huge dissapointment. I can easily see him fall out of the top five due to his foot speed issues. Weak back check. STAY AWAY.
2. Leon draisaitl never seems to do anything when I watch him play. European left wing. No chance we pick this guy.
3. Reinhart is such a smart player. If we could get this guy and then lure griffin when he reaches free agency then we are sitting pretty. He seems to play a mans game in a boys body. Wait till this guy fills out and improves. His brothers have improved a lot since their draft and I expect the same for Sam. One negative is that he's not a game breaker like a Mackinnon Stamkos Crosby Ovi Tavares or Gino. All this really makes me hope we get a top 2 pick. He does look like he's still getting a bit bigger.
4. Aaron ekblad is still the guy to choose, I think. Despite the unpredictability of picking a d-man, I think Aaron is a safe bet to become a great defenceman. He's big, fast, smart, calm and skilled. He has the total package. But He's not the prospect Seth jones was IMO. His skating is kind of awkward. But he's so big it doesn't matter he will figure it out. The reason why we should pick him despite he has more faults than Reinhardt, is because of his shrewd potential. He skates awkward but so does Shea Weber. That's who he reminds me of and he could even become better than that. I see more superstar potential in Aaron then I do with Sam. Also, Burke get a boner for big players so with Aaron and Sean at least we have two big skilled guys to start with. Mix in the fact our other best youth prospects are pretty small, it makes sense.
5. Bennett, hopefully this guy is in the same level as Aaron and Sam. Shame he couldn't play.
6. The one guy that really impressed me a lot was Fleury he seems like he has it all too and if the flames go on a winning streak and we pick like 7th or so, I would be more than happy to get this guy. Very, very impressed.
