Ouch. The humble brags come back to bite in the ass.
Social media can really come back to bite you in the ass if you're not careful. I wonder how long until Oilers fans set the Scrivens furniture on fire?
Scrivens has the league's third best save percentage. WTF LA.
Wtf to you, SebC. This is one of those times where you really need to put those stats into context. Scrivens plays for Darryl Sutter and behind Sutter's ultra tight defensive style of play. The Kings play a full team defense and it wouldn't (and won't) have those numbers with the Oilers.

Not sure I'm sold on this one for the Oilers. A very high 3rd round pick for a guy that can walk at the end of the year? Maybe he re-signs and becomes a solid goalie, I guess we'll see. The moves they made today seem lateral at best, IMO.

Sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, if he struggles in the next few months to keep up his Kings stats with the porous Oilers defense, some columnist up there will drag out these tweets again and blame the wife's "probable" unhappiness as a theory as to her husband's play.

For the life of me I can never figure out what the Oilers are doing. The only asset they're guaranteed to have at the end of the season is a ~2 million a year player who is paid twice as much as Blake Comeau but whose stats make Comeau look like Brett Hull.
Shocked at how many people think Scrivens is an upgrade on Dubnyk.
Scrivens has a total of 18 wins in the NHL. He has been traded twice in less than a year. He has NEVER shown that he can be a #1 goalie.
Dubnyk got off to a horrible start this year, but he has carried that gawd-awful defense for the last few years.
Dubnyk's numbers are going to jump markedly, while Scriven's are going to take a major hit.
I don't think there is more than maybe a 10 or 20% chance that he re-signs after this year, so it's a high 3rd for half of a season of a back-up goalie.
And people think this is a good trade?
For me, the two trades sum as follows:
AT BEST, equal in net, though I think it's a downgrade. And not only that, but Scrivens seems substantially less likely to re-sign than Dubnyk would have.
So it's a 62nd or 63rd pick for a 32 year old 4th liner that has 9 goals in the last 3 seasons and a total of 29 in his career. And he is signed until he is 36.
And they eat half of Dubnyk's salary.
And then next year they have to overpay a free agent goalie.

Doesn't solve any of their immediate issues at all, and they seemed to over pay to do it.
Strange.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I like Scrivens and don't have a problem with what the Oilers did here. Dubnyk wasn't working out for the Oilers and wasn't going to be brought back. Scrivens has never shown that he can be a #1 goalie but Dubnyk showed that he can't.
Well ya it's a reasonable guess that Dubnyk's numbers are going to jump markedly and Scrivens' numbers will take a major hit: Dubnyk's numbers are terrible while Scrivens' numbers are fantastic. Dubnyk's numbers can get better and it'll still suck while Scrivens' numbers can take a hit and still look good.
And I don't understand why you think there's so little chance that Scrivens will re-sign. Players care about money, opportunity, winning, and location. Outside of winning and maybe location (Scrivens grew up near Edmonton and maybe he hated it), Edmonton has everything to offer Scrivens. If Edmonton gives Scrivens the majority of games from here on out and offers him a deal to be the team's #1 goaltender moving forward, Scrivens would be stupid not to take it. Outside of Scrivens playing so spectacularly that he leads or almost leads the Oilers to the playoffs, I can't see too many NHL teams committing to Scrivens as the team's defacto #1 goalie. If Scrivens plays well for the Oilers, that's exactly what the Oilers will do.

One pretty crucial and mitigating factor may be his spouse.
As Edmonton knows well, their consent is important.

Now that Scrivens is an oiler, are we referring to him as an "it"? :P
Lateral move at best by the Oilers, Scrivens has not shown he's better than Dubnyk. His numbers this year are inflated because of the Kings system.
Heck, even if we accept the premise that Scrivens is better than Dubnyk, is he that much better to justify trading a very high 3rd rounder (essentially a late 2nd) and taking on a bad contract for an aging, overpaid fourth liner? I don't thinks so, but then again, I don't know anything about winning like Kevin Lowe. Stupid Oilers.
Add to that, he's a pending UFA. Gratned, Dubnyk was as well, but considering he was drafted by the Oilers and spend his entire career there, there was a much higher chance that'd he'd re-sign than Scrivens. If Scrivens re-signs with the Oilers, I'd really have to question his intellect. Right now, Edmonton is suicide for goalies.
