Does anyone want the Browns job?

They might as well hire Jim Tressell.

Vikings have hired Mike Zimmer as their head coach. Be curious to see how steep Cincinnati declines with him leaving. Undeniably one of the best co-ordinators in the game, but didn't get too many looks because he's opinionated.

We believe the head coach of the Cleveland Browns to be a very attractive position. We have one of the youngest teams in the League, a roster that includes five Pro Bowlers. In addition, we have more salary-cap room than all but one NFL team. We also have three of the top 35 picks in the upcoming draft and five of the top 83 selections.

We are very much looking forward to adding a strong coach to our football team. On behalf of the Cleveland Browns, I cannot thank you enough for your valuable support and passion that you show for our team.

We look forward to communicating with you again after the search process is complete. Thank you again for your phenomenal support and loyalty.

Is it me or is Haslam already starting to tread into Dan Snyder/Jerry Jones territory?

Boo-mother####ing-yaa!

It will be interesting to see who he brings as his offensive coordinator as he needs a pretty strong and established offensive mind to control that end of the game.

Vikings have requested and received permission to interview Browns OC Norv Turner for Minnesota OC job, per source.

My son texted me this news when it broke. His phone autocorrected Norv to Nirvana. As a result, Norv shall be forever known as Nirvana Turner.

Darren Sharper arrested for rape and being investigated for 3 sexual assault charges in 2 states.

Yikes.

The Browns pretty clearly had absolutely no plan when they fired Chud. They're interviewing Dirk Koetter, he of a 40-34 career college record at Arizona State. Basically seems like the first person that says they want the job will get it, and of course promptly be fired in the next two years. The Browns are an even bigger disaster than normal at the moment.

Browns have spoke with the 49ers about some of their staff, but no names were released.

Next day edit: Now it is being reported that as of Tuesday night the Browns have not spoken to Greg Roman or Vic Fanggio. That would presumably leave the defensive line coach, Jim Tomasula. (beloved by his players, a super positive person. Was interim Head Coach for 1 game after Singletary was fired and is 1-0)

Assuming he wants the job, Mike Pettine (Buffalo DC) will be the Cleveland Browns coach for 2014. Jeez the Browns are almost in the NFL for other fan bases to simply go "Could be worse, we could cheer for the Browns". They're basically begging guys to take the job and no one wants it.

I saw an ESPN 60 for 60 on Tomsula about a year ago or so. He reminded me a lot of Romeo Crennel in that the players seemed to love the guy and he really knew his craft. But I think he realized that as an interim coach at the end of the season he was successful for a game or two as a lot of the season planning was already done. If he had to run the whole staff and implement all the game planning stuff from the get go, it might be too much for him.

Hey, at least it's above .500 ... and in the Pac 12. The Bills hired a guy who was .500 in the Big East.
