Dubnyk is a UFA this summer as well. Either way they'll need to re-sign a goalie.

It's important to note here that Scrivens #s this year are due in large part to playing on the number one possession team in the entire league.

No 2nd or 3rd round picks for the Oilers in a season where they will surely pick top 5 or possibly first overall.

Except if he does even half decently Scrivens will get $3-4M out of Edmonton.

Lowe: Welcome to the Oilers Ben. First order of business, before you talk to the front office staff about the logistics of your move, or talk to any coaches or teammates....there's this Facebook page about me, and I could really use your help....

What a strange pair of moves... I think Dubnyk & Scrivens is basically a wash in terms of talent with the upcoming UFA status on both. So Edmonton basically just traded a 3rd round pick for the bad contract of Hendricks.

Very nice deal for Edmonton. A third round pick for Scrivens is great value.

I hope he stands on his head and leads them to just enough wins to pull them up out of the bottom 5.

Catch-22 for Scrivens then. His best chance at big money is right now, before his GAA inflates due to playing for the Oilers. But signing now means he is stuck in Edmonton for the forseable future.

Martin Jones came in and basically put up the same numbers as Scrivens, a pretty good indicator that LA's system inflates goalies worth.

Moves to help Edmonton, who don't have a hope in the world at playoffs at this point, can only mean good things for our 2014 draft.

Scrivens isn't gonna solve everything, though. A lot of goalies can look decent behind LA's defense. Big test for him behind mediocre d-men and forwards that have an offense first mentality and aren't gonna come back to do much good in their own zone.

Any move at this point, that helps the Oilers, makes me happy.

Yes essentially the Oilers give up a 3rd round pick and pick up an overpaid 4th liner for a 3 month tryout for Ben Scrivens.

Sounds pretty hysterical when you put it that way...

If she thinks winter in Toronto and NY is paying her dues wait until she spends the winter in Edmonton. Sounds to me like the wife may be a potential stumbling block in Scrivens signing a long term deal with the Oilers although money could change her mind.

Best case scenario: He plays well, then darts in the offseason.

Great moves for Edmonton. They came out better today than they were yesterday.

This is actually a good move for edmonton. Too bad none of their defense are any good, and not of their forwards backcheck. Have fun getting shelled every game Ben.

If he does even remotely good there, he will be getting paid.

I hope so. I like seeing them behind the Flames in the standings but it's more important that they pick after the Flames in the draft like last year.
