Everybody wins.

Not sure the Pens do it though.
Yes, it would have to be Glencross ++

Maybe Glencross + Brodie + a pick gets it done. Pouliot is a blue-chipper & the Pens would be silly to part with him.

No one can
Let's address this concept of Stempniak's hot streaks.

While with the Flame he has had exactly 1 month where he has gotten a ppg.

Jan 2013 5 pts in 5 games.

In his whole time as a Flame he has had 1 streaks where he went a ppg for a month and it was a short month.

In jan 2011 with Phx he got 6 goals and 14 pts in 14 games. The months before and after 4 pts in 27 games.

The time before his streak with Phoenix was in March 2010 where he got 13 goals and 17 pts in 15 games. That is his Sarich hit on Marleau moment where everyone noticed. He totally disappeared a week later in the playoffs,

Then you have to go back to November 2008 where he had 4 goals and 14 pts in 12 games.

In summary he has had 4 months where he has gotten a ppg since 2008. Over that time he has had numerous months where he has put up 4th line pt totals while getting top-6 minutes.

He has no positive trade value.

Wow. Just wow. Pouliot projects to be a Brodie type of defenseman, if he develops. I wouldn't trade Brodie straight up for Pouliot let alone kicking in Glencross and a pick. That's a hockeysfuture type trade scenario there.

Can also add the Sens to that list:

Brian Murray says he is willing to move young assets to win now:
http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/i...-to-make-deals

Quote:
"I think we do have a good number of young people I would think other organizations would be interested in," Murray said. "The Bobby Ryan deal [last summer] required us to give up a young player, a couple of young players, I think it's been a good thing for us and I believe it'll be a good thing for Anaheim. But, yes, we're open to talking about moving a young part or two to get the required player that we would need."

Which doesn't mean it's open season on all of Ottawa's young pieces.

"We're not moving Curtis Lazar, I can tell you at this point in time," Murray said of his prized junior prospect who played for Canada at the world juniors. "But we do have a number of players that probably are deserving of playing some games or playing in the NHL that may not get a chance, because of our numbers up here, that we would talk to teams about for a more veteran-type player. But very definitely one of the priorities here for us has been to draft, stock, develop our players and make sure this organization is good for a lot of years. I think that's the position we're getting ourselves in. We've got some young goaltenders coming, I think we've got a couple of young defensemen that look like real keepers, and there's a number of forwards in Binghamton right now and Lazar in juniors. We would make the right commonsense trades if there was something there without robbing what would be our future."
Quote:
"At the beginning we were very concerned about the mobility of our defense and what was happening there," said Murray. "We were trying, and I talked to a number of teams about a puck-moving D. But again, the drafting here ... has produced a quality defenseman here in Cody Ceci. He's young but we can't get him out of the lineup now since we've brought him up from Binghamton. He's been really good for us, real solid. So probably the one area that like a lot of teams we still need is another forward that has some impact, either in the scoring part of it or the physical part. Either/or, and I think that would address a need on our hockey team."

interesting. In addition to Lazar, I can't see them deal Ceci either ... probably guys like Puempel, Prince or Stone.

Sounds a lot like Stone is the odd man out there. Put in time in the AHL but is fighting a tough system for his type of game.

He's currently up with the Sens. I watched their game versus the Avs the other night & he played an absolute beauty of a pass to Turris on the PP. He has a goal & an assist in 4 games this season (all in the last week or so). I would hope Burke is looking into his availability.

That is the story with Stone so far in his career. He's up for a couple games, does ok. Can't stick on a healthy roster for some reason.

Kid has great hands and very good net sense but is a terrible skater.

Considering our prospect pool at RW is non-existent, and considering he and Ferland tore up the WHL together, I see no reason not to kick his tires & see if the price is right.

I'm interested in both of them. More Ceci but Stone can be a player the Flames could use down the road. Bigger plays physical from what I remember of the WJC he was in. He's also got 2 points in 4 games with Sens this year, not bad for a 21 year old.

Ceci isn't on the block. If you read the article, Murray is quoted as saying Ceci is the reason why they aren't in the market for a puck-moving defenceman anymore.

ricardodws obsession with Stempniak has passed the point of creepy lol

Everytime Stempniaks name is mentioned, 2 posts later there's a 5+ paragraph post from ricardodw where he compiles all sorts of random stats to bash Stempniak

We get it, everyone knows what kind of value he has. He's been in the league for long enough that every GM knows what he is, a streaky scorer

That's why we only had to swap an older injured Langkow straight up for him

I agree Zilla...our RW depth isn't good at all. If he's available I say take a run.

So it's only a hot streak if he goes PPG. And if he doesn't he has no positive trade value.

Got it, fantastic logic at work.

Anderson is having an off year but Lehner/Anderson is one of the better tandems in the league. Really doubt they are looking to bring in a pending UFA, big money goalie. Don't forget, that is why bishop was moved last year - to crowded in the crease with guys that can play.
