2 goals, 2 assists for Gaudreau against his once and future teammate, Jon Gillies.
The kid is something else.
Watch for the highlights later. Great pass on his first assist to Bill Arnold. His first goal was a snipe from the side of the net at the end of a PP, and his second goal was a good second-effort on a partial break to tap the loose puck through Gillies' pads.
He now has 39 points in 20 games, so the 2.0 PPG mark is so close. This will also move him into the national lead for both points and points per game. He also leads the nation in goals scored, at 19.

The kid deserves it too. He's been able to produce without a ton of PP time. He's a keeper.
He had better not stiff us.

I'm more wondering how to get Johnnys linemate Kevin Hayes to stiff Chicago, he's finishing his senior year and must be signed.

That would be great to get a whole line that has been absolutely tearing up the NCAA this season to walk right onto the Flames/Heat at the end of the year. Hayes has looked really good alongside Arnold and Gaudreau all year.

Be nice but I don't think we could get Hayes until about august without a trade.

Well the Hawks did just trade his brother Jimmy away to Florido in the Versteeg trade so he's got one less reason to stay with them.

Yeah, they'd have to swing a trade.

I'd be fine without making a move for him. Hot NCAA lines most likely don't swing momentum to the NHL level. The league level is too far above those types of gimmicks.
I also wouldn't want to trade any promising futures on a slim chance it working.

It's interesting.
I was watching the Oilers v. Penguins game this AM, and it was hard not to notice how tiny a player Brian Gibbons is. Nhl.com lists him as 5' 8", 170 lbs; he is 25-years-old, and is playing in his first NHL season. It's been a pretty good start for him. After two years in the AHL in which he produced 19 goals and 60 points in 140 games, he currently has 2 and 6 in 12 in the NHL, and a goal and 4 points in his last 5 games.
Unsurprisingly, Gibbons is a BC product, and spent his entire, four-year college career playing for the Eagles from 2007–2011. By way of comparison to Gaudreau, he had 13 goals and 35 points in his rookies season, and 18 goals and 51 points in his senior year. He finished college with 56 goals and 164 points in 160 games.
Gaudreau at present has played three years in college, and has scored 61 goals and 134 points in 99 games. He is currently playing in his 20-year-old season, and is ripping it up with a 1.95 points/game scoring rate. In his 20-year-old-season, Gibbons was a sophomore, and scored at a 0.78 rate.
What's the point? With how well Gaudreau has been playing, and with my expect ion that he will probably begin his professional hockey career this year, I have been paying more attention to small NHL forwards like Gibbons, in an effort to gauge both how successful they are, and how they are successful. There are still plenty of reasons to be concerned about how Gaudreau will translate at the NHL level, given how small he is, but players like Gibbons help to show that t can be done. If a point/game small player from college can make the jump, then it should provide some added optimism for seeing Gaudreau succeed.

Signed, Johnny's mom?
On a serious note, I see no reason to be worried on this end. Gaudreau seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders. No ego from that kid whatsoever.

“@BCHockeyNews: Congrats to Johnny Gaudreau, scoring the game-tying goal, in his 100th-career game as an Eagle. In 100 games, Gaudreau has scored 135 points”

Is Johnny still playing on his off-wing these days?
We really need some prospects on the RW...

So when Johnny was drafted... Awesome
And with people worried about his size. You really shouldn't. I'm not anyways mostly because he's ALWAYS has been undersized. And he's adjusted and found a way to not only succeed, but dominate. He's a smart, talented hockey player so the NHL I feel will be no different IMO.

BChockeyJunkie - Do you know Arnold's status as well? What are his plans?
