What has to happen is a coaching change and a big deal for an impact player, even if the Flames include some draft picks and current prospects.
I like Hartley but it's just not working.
You still have to ice a team that can play the scheduled games in the NHL here.

That is such a terrible idea that I can only conclude you are a troll

Sure. But he also promised Hartley he had the rest of the year. So the new guy would bring in new coaches in the summer if he wants.

I am just hoping we are beneficiaries of a "burkebuster" trade this season where he just fleeces a team. I am looking forward to when the vets are moved and some kids from Abby get called up.
I think the most excitement will come at the draft though. I believe Burke will load up on assets and be aggressive in acquiring a few new core pieces
|
Hoping he doesn't use the 2nd plus 8th overall (hypothetically) to grab a kessel type player to try and get into the playoffs though. Burke has never been one to "load up on assets" without moving them.

What people need to understand is that moves and trades are part of the rebuild. It's actually a good thing were you can do quick assessments on players and make a decision to keep them or trade them. Other than a couple players you can trade anybody in this lineup and the Flames will not be any worse and be better.
The Flames are a bottom team right now so they're going to have high picks for the next 3 years. You need to be properly managing these assets. You can't develop every single one and hope they pan out. That's why you have to make decisions and see if you can get some proven talent in return.

Keep Hartley and fire him in the summer
We also need some goaltending

Dream on. How many here think Burke could get a 2nd rounder for Butler?

A move like that would set this franchise back even further. The last thing you do in a rebuild is trade away prospects and draft picks. This team isn't going to be a contender anytime soon and what we need most is patience and to not deviate from the plan when things get rough.
Acquiring an impact player makes no sense due to the high cost to get him and the fact that one player is not going to make a huge difference. It also sends a bad message to the rest of the prospects.

Was on my ignore list after roughly his 10th post.
Blows my mind how many times he gets quoted and responded too.

I think he is going to target Ekblad. When he held the 7th pick in 09 he used it on Kadri and when he had the 5th pick in 2012 he used it on Rielly.
If he trades a 1st this draft it will be one he acquires for Cammy

Possible depending on other teams needs at the deadline....he has actually been a lot better of late and eating a ton of minutes. That said i would think he would liekly bring a 3rd rd pick if he gets dealt.

Still amazing how a talent like jaybow can be so good in st. Louis but so bad here and people aren't questing the system Hartley uses when evaluating our talent. Face it we have a coach who will not adopt as well.

If it's such a big deal to you then why do you keep mentioning it?
Telling everyone you put someone on ignore isn't ignoring them.

I'd be happy with letting him go ufa. Calgary has bigger fish to fry than worrying about returns in trades.

Yeah but he has gone on record saying he did not think at all it would be a top 2 pick.
He said he would do it again (the trade) to save face.
He will not trade our first round pick. It is untouchable.
