What's the record for the most shutouts on a team? And the Flames are still ahead of the Oilers in the standings - unbelievable!

Anybody else sick of the rebuild yet? i hope 1 year of this is enough, and the team improves, even marginally, next season.
how do oiler fans do this year in and year out for a decade??

Dome was emptying out with 10 min left.
Our area was pretty empty until 10 after puck drop.
I don't think Calgary fans have the stomach for this. Empty seat against the blues is a surprise. Can only imagine how bad the coyotes and précis game will be.

We knew that this team was going to be in tough this year and probably a couple of years after. Welcome to the rebuild, we hope you enjoy your stay.
Are the Flames still working hard. I believe they are, except they are truly inept in the offensive zone. Scoring at the NHL level is hard. You can teach systems, but its hard to teach offensive prowess especially a team like St Louis.
When I was leaving the game tonight people were muttering about giving up and not coming to any more games and I snorted to myself. We all wanted the rebuild, this is what your going to get. The offensive help is two years away probably.
If as fans we're ready to give up and turn our backs on this team now, 4 months into this then I question the level of commitment of the fans.
Its going to be tough, its going to be worse next year.
I feel sorry for the players because I haven't seen a team that's saying I give up. I'm seeing a team with absolutely no confidence in the opponents end of the ice and it shows.
Are changes needed, sure, but they're not going to change the team for the better, they're going to for the most part make this team worse. So if you can't handle this, then maybe people should take a couple of years away starting at the deadline.
I haven't seen a team with this many offensive problems since never, I haven't seen a team not being rewarded for work ethic in a long time.
But the bottom line is and someone mentioned it before, the good teams are amping it up for the playoff push. The Flames amped it up at the start of the season, and now they can't keep up.
In the words of a famous ad, this rebuild bottom line is our dishwater soap and now we're soaking in it.

Agreed. Ownership had good cause to fear letting go of Iginla/Kiprusoff.

There is nothing wrong with the attendance thus far during the re-build or the fact that some folks are leaving earlier during a blow out. To expect fan support not to drop a some during a rebuild is silly. It's the reason why I always lose it when people talk about the sustanability of markets and they say "well if they were a winning team, it could make it". It doesn't matter if people support a winner, it's how many will stick around for a losing product, and the Flames, so far are getting a more than acceptable level of support for a losing product.

This team hasn't even bottomed out.
The vets might be a Mötley Crüe but, they are still real, established NHLers. Just wait until this team deals that Mötley Crüe for draft picks. That will be the real bottom.
It just seems really bad right now because of the better than expected, sustained start and the that the fan base is now becoming cognizant to the fact that this team is getting blown the fark out, and we aren't even at game 50 yet.
These losses have been horrible, and they will continue, but this is probably the worst of it until March.
Thank god for the Olympics.

Not many positives lately outside of the occasional Monahan goal, fairly decent goaltending, and a few improbable wins. The games are hard to watch, especially against the powerful Western Conference teams. I agree with others that we probably haven't seen the bottom yet. Hope we don't wander the desert for too many years, it's already been four years since the playoffs, hell we could be lucky to be back within seven.

Blown the fark out happened when the team lost 9 straight, or when they lost 9-0 or 9-1. This is easy son.

It's kinda funny how bad we are right now, If/When we get good again, we can sit back and laugh at this.
Is it worth keeping Monahan up here right now? might as well send him back and the 67's can trade him to a contender.

One year at a time.
At least you have/are able to change management.
Imagine having your can tied to Kevin Lowe for 14yrs.

Was there any payback against Backes after kneeing Stajan last game? Just curious...

I wouldn't say Burke is having any direct impact on the teams recent woes. More so the uncertainty that comes with having a new GM. Perhaps some players that felt comfortable before are now a little unsure of where they stand. Really this could happen regardless of who the new GM is so I'm not pointing fingers at Burke or anything.
I think mostly though it's just a lack of talent and confidence. Team works hard but that's only going to get you so far, especially as playoffs get closer and closer.
Not really surprised as it's all part of a full on rebuild. I think we will see a ton of changes between this years deadline and the start of next season though. Should be quite entertaining!

This is rock bottom. I hate it. It sucks. I love this team to death. I will be here until the end. We knew there would be times like these.
I will defend the flames (and explain loyalty) to Canucks fans while I live in Vancouver. I will never give up. I expect another rock bottom moment or 2.
BUT
I expect to become a champion. A Stanley cup champion. I expect to be a better team than than the oilers and Canucks ever were.
I expect that my team will never pull hair or dive. I expect they will never bite fingers and I expect the will never cheat to win.
I also expect that they will never lose on purpose. I will never cheer for a loss. I will never boo my team either. I might get frustrated, but I won't discredit their effort. But there better be effort.
Bottom line is: I will be here until the end!
