I was a little surprised given the Swiss team's lack of premier scoring.
I think most people are a little suprised he's not there. But a good point brough up is that I think the Swiss team, for the most part, all play together through most of the season and have a specific system in place. Disrupting that chemistry could be detrimental, but there is something to be said for bringing in an offensive ringer of sorts. Some adversity could be a good thing for Sven, he's having to battle a lot of it.

It's baffling to me how many times in one game Sven will shy away from a hit, even if it means turning the puck over to avoid a check. That's something he's going to have to get over quickly.

I'm curious if all those injuries have made him, I hate to say it, Mitch Wahl-like.

I could be wrong, and even if i am right he could still turn it around. But I'm gonna say it. Sven Baertschi is fragile. Physically and emotionally.

That is a frightening revelation if your observations are correct.

Very difficult to learn courage.

Early in his career it seemed like he was quite willing to bump for the puck. Hopefully Wardo helps him figure it all out again.

I for one am not going to be surprised if Burke moves him. At the same time he may just patiently wait for him to improve but doubt he sees the NHL anytime soon.

I seem to recall many plays where he took a hit to make a play and the puck ended up in the net, or a couple games where he was checking guys off the puck and causing turnovers down low. I don't think Baertschi is fragile, I think he is still a kid and his body is still maturing. It's also worth noting since he was assigned to Abbotsford the Flames have scored only 21 goals in 19 games. The previous 19 games before he was sent down the Flames scored 43 goals.

I think I'm misunderstanding what you're saying here, but hasn't Sven only been in Abby for 8 games?

He was assigned on December 12th IIRC

My bad:

13 games since he was assigned

30 goals in 13 games before assigned, 21 goals in 13 games since

Yeah, something isn't right. Abby has played 8 games, the Flames have played 13, not 19.

Either way, he wasn't producing, so it's hard to claim that a difference in production from all four lines has anything to do with one player who wasn't producing in the first place.

NM, I'm lame. You're talking about the Flames' record, not Abby's. Carry on.

The 13 games are the amount of games the Flames played since his re-assignment, not the Heat.

Lol...me too!

Anyway. Anytime you take an offensively gifted player out of the lineup the opposing coaches have an easier time shuting down the rest. hows Stemps doing with most of the attention lately?

I can see the flames struggling to score with Sven off the team.

Yeah Sven's 11 points in 26 games was really driving the offense on the team.... opposing coaches are relieved they don't have to face the offensive dynamo that is Sven.

The answer is probably stale cuz they lost again today. Also what's the record since Burke became gm?
