Hard to argue with the success and commitment to excellence that the single owners in Edmonton and NYI have brought to their clubs.

Was just a good thread to post it in.

I don't think you understand what the word "owner" means. Nobody can fire the owners. Nobody can force them to sell the team. This team belongs to the ownership group. As in it's their team and nobody can change that. They can honestly do whatever they want with it, they could relocate to a new city if they really wanted to.
But, the ownership is stable, willing and able to spend to the salary cap and is trying to turn the franchise around. It takes time. They can't just make a cup contender with free agents, that's what got the team into this mess in the first place.

More importantly, we are on the verge of completing a major culture change that began with the sell-off last year and will be completed at the deadline this year. I think Burke will stay at the helm and I have faith that he will succeed in trading and signing a new core of vets capable of delivering a team game that will produce a few more wins and more entertainment next year.
I waited a long time for this rebuild and I refuse to be pessimistic in year one.
|
It's time to start being realistic.
The only reason we are as good as we are right now is because our Vet core is carrying the mail for us. We have one of the worst collections of young NHLers in the league which will need to be continually supplanted by Vets if you hope to maintain even the same results as this year.
As of right now, 2 of our top 11 scorers are under 25. Yuck.
I for one would not be satisfied if Burke decided to keep guys like Stajan, Stempniak, Cammalleri on the roster either, to attempt to just maintain our current level of play.
We're bad. Really bad and it might be another 2 years before we even get back to our current level of play.

This is what decades worth of horrible drafting does to a team. You don't reverse that kind of ineptitude within one or two seasons. Monahan is a nice start but the Flames need to draft several more star level prospects, and they have to pan out. Only then will we have something to look forward to. Depth players have never been an issue for the team. Drafting elite talent has. As much as I don't ever want the team to lose, we need a top 3 pick the next two seasons, and we need to pray that somehow one of them is a #1 overall pick overall.

I'm pretty sure that this BS is why you are getting the reaction you are.
You don't speak for the "majority" of Flames fans, stop pretending you do.
I have been a season ticket holder since 2003, and your attitude pisses me off a whole lot more than anything Flames ownership is doing.
And I'm pretty sure it is MBNA that is peddling the Credit Cards at the Dome, nothing to do with Scotiabank, but don't let the facts get in the way of your ranting.

What is this based on?
It certainly isn't ticket sales because the season tickets are still sold out and there still is a waiting list to get season tickets.

You know you have nothing left to say when you bring out the ole "I've been a season ticket holder since".
Many people are, what's your point?
Maybe stick to the discussion at hand rather than just accuse others of trolling and BS.
Perhaps the truth huts a little to much.

But, but, but... that's just Calgarians getting their fix of NHL hockey! They're still fed up, they're just not willing to stop spending money at games to show it, or something.

A majority? Are you conducting polls city wide or something?
If you don't like the games, don't go. My family has been season ticket holders since the Saddledome opened in 1983 and I can tell you I havn't seen more buzz at season ticket holder events than this year about the prospects this team is collecting. Murray Edwards and Co. are doing a great job staying out of hockey operations way.
Time to start thinking about getting different owners? That is one of the stupidest things I have ever read. Your parents must be cousins.

Why bother, I know but you haven't laid out any facts. All you have done is said majority of the Flames Fans are fed up. That isn't factual that is opinion. What is your data to support this fact? Listening to call in sport shows, conducted your own research.....At least "moon" has attendance facts and we kind of know that although the waiting list is kept by the Calgary Flames we haven't audited the waiting that there is a waiting list. These are facts we know as people have indicated they are on the waiting list. It is a fact that "moon" has had no problems selling his own tickets. Stretching here I know but I'm taking "moon" at his word.

See my sig. He's great.
He starts out here and there making occasional posts that rustle everyone's jimmies a little bit. He waits for a large group of people to try and engage him and then he goes all out like you see in this thread.
Please don't ban, because I honestly find the material kind of entertaining

Jobhopper: Has all the Flames inside info, like the Flames trying to acquire Hall and Bieksa...
Has so much evidence that the Flames suck from top to bottom that he tells season ticket holders they're fed up. Because they had no idea how they were feeling before he piped up.
"They see me trollin', they hatin'" .
Won't last too much longer I wager. two weeks?
