i think it's absolutely hilarious that taylor hall and coach eakins feel there's a "grieving period" at the shock of him not making team canada. What a joke.

I agree with you, except I'd take Carter over Thornton. But I actually wouldn't take Jeff Carter, because I would have taken Claude Giroux.

Again, there is literally ZERO chance that Toews and Bergeron are on the same line. They are the Canadians' top two faceoff takers, 1st and 4th overall amongst all NHLers going to the Olympics.
That's not to say that they won't be out together at some points.

Was there ever even a shot? I know Lowe pumped his tires but I never really thought he had a realistic shot.

I never understood why his name ever came up. He never had a shot at all. And that's not the anti-Oiler bias talking. Just take a look at the names on the roster.
You got Sidney Crosby. Steven Stamkos. Jonathan Toews. Ryan Getzlaf. Corey Perry. Matt Duchene. Jamie Benn. John Tavares.
Now look at the names that were snubbed. Joe Thornton. Eric Staal. Logan Couture. Milan Lucic. Martin St. Louis. James Neal. CLAUDE GIROUX.
And you got...Taylor Hall.
Really? You can't make that comparison in a million years.

I never said he wasn't. I just found the tweets with the quotes, and thought I'd throw em up.
Hard to tell without seeing Eakins' expression though.
My first reaction after reading Eakins' words...

I think he actually had a shot and was on the bubble.... then they played Anaheim and San Jose last week and he couldn't be counted on playing against the top teams and looked way over his head.
-7 with one shot on goal in those two games averaging only 15 minutes per game.
That was the nail in the coffin IMO.

Giroux knows how to step up in big games -- i.e. playoffs vs Pittsburgh. Can be physical -- laid out Crosby in said playoffs. Can adjust and score goals -- 8 G in 10 Playoff games last playoffs.
I take Giroux over Duchene any day of the week

Duchene played on the PK last year, but Roy has taken him off of it this year for some reason, along with Landeskog.

Wow, what a prophet you are...........oh wait, even by your own definition you were still wrong. Explain to me how a team that made the semi's of the tournament is being used by you to justify your position that "Canada didn't have a chance to win" at the world juniors. Any team that made the semi's clearly had a pretty good "chance to win".
I think your problem is you don't understand odds and probabilities, and what that means. Canada not winning Olympic gold is not a very risky stance for you to take, and proves nothing about your statement despite them having the best team on paper right now.
Canada, had the BEST chance of any of the countries to win this tournament right now, because they have assembled the best team on paper. That doesn't mean that Canada winning the gold medal is the MOST LIKELY outcome if you look at the big picture. Canada is the most likely INDIVIDUAL nation at this point to win the gold because they have the best team, but the MOST LIKELY outcome right now is that 1 of the other 11 nations in the tournament will win the gold. Why, because their combined odds of winning are greater than Canada's individual odds of winning, but no other nation has a good of individual odds of winning as Canada.
Point being, you don't get to come in her post World Juniors or Post Olympics if Canada doesn't win gold and pretend you were right or knew what you were talking about because your opinion is one where you've given yourself 11 teams that can win (maybe 5 realistic chances) where the counter to your point will only accept ONE team winning (Canada) to be proven wrong. That's simply not an accurate way to look or try and back up your statements.
If your point is it's more likely that one of USA, Russia, Sweeden, Finland or Cezks will get gold over Canada, then way to go, you are correct. But if your point is as you actually said: Canada doesn't have a chance, then you are wrong. No individual nation is more likely at this point to win gold then Canada is.
