Rick Nash is one if the most overrated players in the NHL. He's done nothing too deserve a spot on this Canadian team.

It's not exactly what I would do but if he's right, I'll be perfectly happy with our team.
Here is what I would do. I have made some minor modifications since I posted in the 48 hours thread, after reading others' insights. To recap my concept:
Quote:
The point is to have one line whose general purpose is to match up against the opposition's best players, and at all other times be rolling three lines who are more or less equally lethal as offensive threats. This is the rationale for not having Stamkos out when Crosby is, except on the power play. For me, this is particularly important in a tournament where the biggest advantage Canada has is depth, especially on defense. As I have said before, what I want from team Canada is never to feel like I'm waiting for the truly dangerous players to be on the ice - which happens all too often with HC teams. This lineup is designed to make that a reality. In other words, if you're the opposition coach, whatever defense you decide to put on the ice, they should never once be thinking "well, at least we don't have to deal with that other line". Instead, I want them thinking "wow, thank God we got through that shift, now who are they putting out nex- Oh, f%*@!"
|
Tavares - Crosby - Giroux
Duchene - Stamkos - St. Louis
Benn - Getzlaf - Perry
Sharp - Toews - Bergeron
Thornton - Couture
Keith - Doughty
Bouwmeester - Pietrangelo
Hamhuis - Weber
Vlasic - Subban
Lungo
Price
Smith

The Swede's are going to win it all anyway, so it's going to be interested to see how their roster is formed tomorrow. Also will Finland snub Selanne? Surely they can't, but he's had a pretty average year in Anaheim, and they may not want him on the larger ice surface.

Not if Lundqvist is playing the way he is. Of course if they do pick Lack then yes I do agree with you.....

And if Stamkos cannot go Marleau will replace him. Better to have a veteran ready to go when the moment is needed.

According to a source, Logan Couture will have surgery on his hand on Wednesday morning. Expected to miss 3-4 weeks #SJSharks

So hoping Iginla is a surprise pick after his solid play and good +/- this year. It would be great.

Wonder if that will keep him off the team? Well before I read this my roster was:
Kunitz-Crosby-Stamkos
Benn-Getzlaf-Perry
Couture-Marleau-Tavares
Duchene-Toews-Giroux
Sharp-Bergeron
Keith-Doughty
Bouwmeester-Pietrangelo
Vlasic-Weber
Giordano-Subban
Luongo
Price
Smith
If Couture is kept off because of injury, change that 3rd line to:
Marleau-Tavares-St. Louis

As much as I would love to see a flame on the team, I do not want it to be Giordano. Sorry guys, but I think he is one of the most overrated players on the team and believe that it would be best for team Canada to not have him on the team.

Are you sure you don't want Gio on the team? I believe he's played well for his NHL team, and plays and excellent team game. He has also shown he can be a great leader for this team, and any team, including Canada's National team, who will play as a team at the Olympics and could benefit from having him on the team.

Yes that is true, but I believe there are quite a few better option as than him. If there is an injury then maybe he fills in though
