The DH8-300's don't push from gates A1-8, but on occasion the Q400's push off those gates, that could be where the confusion is coming from.

Yeah that seems to support the 2 hour delay; if it was just blown over they would have been on their merry way but they must've swapped aircraft.

Plane was being towed to the parking pad by the tow crew. It had a bit of a layover before it's next leg, and the gate was going to be needed before the Dash 8 was going to leave again. Hence the reason it was being backed/pushed away from that door.
