Flyers could've had Keith Yandle, wound up with Luke Schenn

		| The Luke Schenn-James van Riemsdyk trade seemed like a bad one for the Philadelphia Flyers when it happened. After a season and a half, it looks even worse — van Riemsdyk is an Olympian for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and deservedly so. Schenn has regressed.
On Sunday, it actually got a little worse for Philly. General manager Paul Holmgren turned down a trade that would've sent van Riemsdyk to the Phoenix Coyotes for defenseman Keith Yandle a few hours before pulling the trigger on Schenn-JVR, according to CSN Philly's Tim Panaccio. Discussions between the two teams were reported at the time, but this is the first time we've seen it in such uncertain terms: the Flyers could've had Yandle, and said no thanks.

Holmgren is far worse than Burke at overemphasizing grit/toughness and underestimating skating. Looks like it cost him.

Other than Boston - who wants to make trades with Burkes - he fleeces everyone!

FFS, do you actually have to be illiterate to work as a "sports journalist" now? That literally means the opposite of what he's trying to say.

I guess philly wanted a stay at home, big, strong dman, not a offensive dman, so kind of makes sense.
How long did it take a guy like regehr to learn his place in the nhl. Curious if schenn can still figure this out or if he's hit his max.

If the flyers were looking at "dumping" Schenn, I wouldn't mind trying him out. He would only be considered a cap dump or a throw in on their part, not a main player in the trade

Flyers were probably worried that yandle near the puck is a disaster waiting to happen

We could've had Brodeur but ended up with Trevor Kidd.

Reggie was playing an effective 18-20 minutes right out of the gate as a 20 year old.
