Nice to see an underdog country win it, hockey is better when it isn't the same 3-4 countries winning all the time.
Also, can taste Sune76's tears from here. Hope he makes an appearance in this thread today

Who knows how TT will end up but I have a hard time believing that one, if not the best organizations in the league would ruin this guys development.
He is going to get a great opportunity in Chicago and I'm expecting the same type of treatment with him like they did with Saad... maybe a year more in the AHL and then put in a spot to succeed (imagine him centering Kane and Saad...)

Chicago would have preferred to keep him in NA, whether in the AHL or the NHL, but they had an agreement with Jokerit that Teuvo plays in Finland no matter what as he feels that he's physically too weak to jump to the NHL. He basically just a made a two week visit to attend preseason while the season in Finland was already going on. Based on media and fan reports, they really loved him. Scotty Bowman compared him to Larionov.
But he's still the type that might suffer a setback when he tries to get to the NHL. The good news for him is that Chicago is really good place to try to fit in for a player like him. He could never do what Barkov does in Florida for example. If he can slip into the lineup and learn from Kane, he can do well, but I don't think his success is guaranteed.

Great performance from both teams. Congrats to Finland.
A lot of great prospects from both countries, Sweden with a population of 9 mil and Finland with 5 mil. Impressive.

Ovechkin had 27 points in 37 games in Russia the year after he was drafted. The next season, he scored 52 goals and 106 points in the best league in the world.
You can't make judgments based on numbers in Euro leagues with limited ice time.
I think I'd have TT go 4th overall in a redraft.

TT is overrated.

Don't be silly. That's clearly not what he meant.
Teuvo isn't a top-10 prospect or anything. Most likely a secondary scorer for the Hawks. However, the Jankowski pick is going to be talked about for a long time, so you should try and get used to it.

Hard to see TT going ahead of any of the top 5.
I would likely have him behind Forsberg, Dumba, Truba, Grigorenko, Hertl and Maata as well.
Lindholm probably ahead based on his play in Anaheim.

How did I compare TT to Ovechkin?
I simply stated that all you're doing is looking at hockeyDB stats and calling him overrated. You probably would have said the same thing in 2005 regarding Ovechkin.
Hell, Hertl played in a lesser league and put up meh numbers and look at him this year.
TT is dominant for his age and was very young for his draft year.

And justifiably so, even though we can't change it obviously. The last thing this team needs is another zero on the board, so I hope to hell that kid makes it.

Great day for Finland. Its always nice to beat Sweden but more importantly we made it to the Volleyball World Championships. Honestly I never understood why you Canadians and americans are making such a big fuzz about Junior WC'S. Who won the junior soccer world championships, nobody knows, not even in Brazil. Or in Basketball, nobody, not even in Lithuania. These are just bunch of kids playing each other and the result is more random than a explosion in a Helsinki alpha-bits factory. Nevetheless, maybe I will take a second Koskenkorva for the Hockey Juniors and a third Ardberg for the Volleyball Team. Go Talvisota go go!

Disappointing Result For Canada
I surely thought they would get a medal at least.
I don't think it was a good team this year.
You have to think this will be it for Brent Sutter as the coach of the JR. team.
Next year it's in Montreal/Toronto so a lot of pressure to win the gold and end the draught.
Good Luck in 2015.

I'm done cursing.
Well done Finland! Utilized yours resources in the best possible way and had a wall in the goal. Enjoy the gold.
In other news, Wallmark performed above my own expectations during the tournament. Since he belongs to my favoured Swedish club it was very pleasing to see!

It also, apparently, had Olympic quality ratings in Sweden this year.
I think it's awesome that so much attention is paid to this tournament not only in NA, but also in countries like Sweden.
