I dunno why but your spelling of Reinhart's name made me think of Steve Reinprecht.

Ah!! That is why I keep seeing that spelling! No idea it was being auto-corrected!

I think by the Olympic break we will be in position for a top 3 pick.

Good pesky RH C/RW with a scoring touch would sit well with Monahan and Jankowski. In the future. Just a thought.

Not gonna happen with Burke harping about size. Good idea but can't see it happening with the amount of skilled size in the top 10 of this draft.

This draft seems so dull compared to last one. I think its better if we save our tanking powers for next season.

Brian Burke always loves to make a splash.
He also loves big blue liners.
My educated guess is that he moves up and gets Ekbald.
Ekbald and Sieloff as our future #1 pair.

Exactly. I think Ekblad could be the next Pronger and Burke sees that too. Depending on where we finish, I could see him giving stuff up to move up to get him and I'd love it
I still think we end up with Ekblad

sieloff will never be a top pairing guy, ill be surprised if he becomes more than a 4/5

Yeah, I think moving up is a strong possibility. It will probably involve moving a prospect though, and a better one than most of us would hope.

Sam Bennett currently has a 21-game point streak... I think I'd take him 3rd after Ekblad in Reinhart (which is probably where we'll be picking) over the LWer Dal Colle.
Interesting enough both players were born on the same day.

What are people thinking about the strength of the top 5 vs. last year?
If the Flames pick 3 or 4, are they likely getting someone with higher potential than Monahan?

Corey Pronman has been saying that the only 2014 draftee that should be playing in the NHL next season is Reinhart.
I think at 3/4 we'll probably get a player of similar caliber to Monahan. Dal Colle and Bennett probably have higher offensive upside.

I think Reinhart and Ekblad likely go 5 and 6 last year with Lindholm and Monahan following at 7/8. If we're not picking top two, I don't think we're getting a better prospect than Monahan. But who knows how these kids develop in the last half of their seasons in junior.

I think there will be some solid prospects available after Reinhart/Ekblad. Not sure I'd take any of them over Monahan. But it shouldn't be a massive dropoff in terms of talent/ability.
Still early though, we'll know a lot more about the depth as we approach the draft.

Good bump. Now that it appears inevitable that we will be looking at a top 5 pick I'd like to hear other opinions on the players that we will be looking at. I'm high on Dal Colle but Leon Draisaitl really intrigues me.

With Burke around I find it unlikely we'd take Willie Nylander, especially with smaller guys like Baertschi and Gaudreau in the system.

Nylander has really fallen from grace this year. Not even invited to Sweden's U20 camp.
I think he goes around 10.

If you are picking at #5 or later you need to get Nylander if he still is there. Other picks outside the top 3-4 IMO are Draisatl and Kempe. Other than that it's a toss up.

Not going to the WJC in your draft year isn't really a big deal. That's pretty normal except for the really exceptional players.
His draft rankings suggest he'll go much higher than 10 so far. He hasn't been falling in the rankings yet.
ISS - 4th
Button - 5th
FC - 6th
He could drop lower later this year but there's nothing so far to indicate he'll go as low as you think.
