With the expansion draft now done some teams are now starting to signing guys to extension. Notables, If there wasn't someone named Fred Stamps the only other player I would want on that roster in Edmonton is Joe Burnett who signed a extension. Hugh Charles and Matt Nichols did as well. I find interesting Matt Nichols resigned, chances are pretty slim that he would beat out Mike Reilly, and perhaps his best shot would be in Winnipeg or maybe Ottawa/Hamilton.

Winnipeg signed Bryant Turner to a extension as did Mike Renaud, they also cut Sandro DeAngelis. Is Ottawa the next destination for Sandro DeAngelis?

I don't think either will be in Riders camp for the first part of the season. I also think one of them will stick in the NFL
I could see Dressler sticking, sheets, maybe not he's kind of a dime a dozen back down there

I think that Edmonton really needs to find a better running game. Charles is very good at catching the ball out of the backfield but his ground and blocking game are sub par.

Matt Nichols could surprise in camp, I think he's a more cerebral QB then Reilly who gets credit for his guts.

Personally I think Edmonton would be stupid if they didn't go after Zack Collaros (sp?) with that paper thin offensive line a pure scrambler would be the way to go.

I also think that Ottawa and Winnpeg go after ZC

I think Nichols and Reilly are a pretty solid 1A/1B -- I'm guessing Reilly gets the edge in camp based on his play last year but doubt he'll end up playing all 18 games.

Winnipeg still needs a QB -- assuming Burris re-signs in Hamilton, I think that leaves Collaros as the only decent FA option.

You forget someone? Drew Willy happens to be a free agent.

Almondo Sewell signed to a extension by Edmonton, methinks many of these signings were agreed to a while ago. Kinda surprised he didn't give the NFL a shot. Great move by them getting him signed to a extension as he is a good player though.

And Lirim Hajrullahu was signed by Winnipeg. He became Western's all-time scoring leader this fall. Yeah, I just threw that in there because its confusing as hell to say and spell.

Concussions claim another victim. Als Guard Andrew Woodruff retires.

Hopefully Tsoumpas can overcome his injury, sucks to have young careers and lives derailed like this.

Ottawa has named 8 members to their first coaching staff, decent group, lots of familiar names, and IMO Mike Gibson and Mark Nelson are solid hires. Calgary is going to need a new LB coach with Don Yanowsky going to Ottawa as the special teams coordinator and running backs coach as well.

Offensive Coordinator: Mike Gibson
Defensive Coordinator: Mark Nelson
Special Teams Coordinator and Running Backs Coach: Don Yanowsky
Quarterbacks Coach: Marcus Crandell
Receivers Coach: Travis Moore
Defensive Backs Coach: Ike Charlton
Offensive Assistant: Jordan Maksymic
Defensive Assistant: Derek Oswalt

Jeff Johnson who played 14 years in the CFL has announced his retirement.

Quote:
Commented Jeff Johnson, “It is with great humility and great honour that I have decided to retire from the game of football and move on to the next chapter of my life. I could have never imagined all that I would gain from this great game. I would like to thank the Toronto Argonauts organization for believing in me and giving me the opportunity of a lifetime - it has been a dream come true. Thank you to all the fans for your support, dedication and love that you continue to show year after year. Finally, thank you to all my family and friends who have been there from the beginning and for showering me with love and support for 14 incredible years; I love you all. Double Blue forever!”
Quote:
Commented Argonauts General Manager Jim Barker, “Jeff has been a consummate professional in every sense of the term. Since I’ve known him, he has been everything one could want in a football player on and off the field. His work ethic, leadership, sense of family, and enthusiasm for the game have set him apart his entire career. I would like to thank Jeff for his commitment to our team and although he’ll always be an Argo, wish him well as he begins the next phase of his life.”
Quote:
Commented Jeff Johnson’s former coach and current Argonauts Vice Chair Michael ‘Pinball’ Clemons, “Today is a little bit like when I first dropped my daughter at university – it’s the saddest of great days. You know they’re right where you want them to be in life, but you also know you are going to miss them. JJ worked hard on the field and his preparation in the classroom was second to none. He is a consummate professional who not only influenced the game with his outstanding play, but he respected the game by honouring our fans. He prepared himself for this day his whole career and now he has the distinction of success on the field and the dignity of options off of it. My greatest wish is to see our players be great friends, teammates, and community leaders, and most significantly, great husbands and dads. All of which define Jeffrey Edwin Johnson. I love you and I wish you and your family the very best.”

So, six out of 9 coaches have ties in with Stampeders. Campbell(DC), Gibson(OL coach), Nelson (played LB), Yanowsky(LB coach), Crandell(played QB), and Moore(WR). They just love former Stamps.

I bet Doug Sams ends up replacing Khari Jones in Saskatchewan as the QB coach That's assuming George Cortez returns as the OC as you never know the NCAA/NFL could call as he still is a free agent, he apparently doesn't want to be anywhere but Saskatchewan. George Cortez and Doug Sams have a close relationship that goes way back.

That didn't take long after losing Khari Jones as QB coach this morning, George Cortez apparently set assume a dual role and become QB coach/OC. Kenton Keith apparently is to set become the RB coach after George Cortez held that position last year...... just screwing with everybody.

And just like that Dressler's best hopes for an NFL dream might have went up in smoke with the Bears signing Chris Williams off the Saints practice roster this afternoon. Williams also got a hefty bonus as well from the Bears.

Dontrell Inman was released from the Agros the other night. The Agros released him because he asked them to so he could explore NFL options. Pretty classy gesture if you ask me by the Agros.

Dressler's agent said he has three NFL teams interested. And perhaps the reason he is waiting until February is because a contract could be in place instead of just a workout.

Lions DB Kory Banks is off to Toronto, he has joined the Argos, it has been on twitter a couple times tonight.

EDIT-he might have been kidding around. Nothing concrete out there.
