Cap space does not matter. The majority of teams won't spend to the cap. Ottawa is screwed. Their owner wouldn't come close to the cap max this year when it went down.

That's more a comment on Bernier more than anything. He's been great this season, despite the huge number of shots coming his way. That defense is junk but they have someone to save their butts every night.

Neither statement is, really. There are some overly-critical members of Toronto's hockey media, and some very flattering members as well. The split is similar to almost every other "hockey city."
The biggest issue is the praising of Toronto in national coverage, that (despite usually being based in Toronto) is supposed to have a more national take, but often takes a MUCH gentler approach to Toronto.
TSN is the guiltiest party, but CBC isn't far off.

When your shots are high and your goals against are low, it means your goaltending is doing the work.
Good defenses prevent chances (aka: shots).

Well, I guess when someone is as big of a biased homer as you are, then probably anything less than god-like praise is seen as "crapping" on the team.

HNIC hates the Leafs. End of story.
People don't seem to get showing them the most does not equal being Leaf homers.
The Leafs give CBC more $ per 30 second commercial. That's what they love. Ratings=money.
I'm biased to you because I don't say the Leafs or horrible or Phaneuf deserves 3 million per.
