From what I remember, the standard was the player's shoulders in all situations until sometime in the late 80s or early 90s when it was changed to the crossbar for goals. I don't remember if it was a safety issue, or just to standardize the call in all situations.

Well, Team Canada scared the crap outta me to start, but since the 2nd period of the US game they've been full marks.
Really good job by Fucale too, for coming up big when needed since taking over.
Now it gets really tough though.

So now that Canada once again makes the semis do we know who they match up against next? Is it Russia?

It should be Finland, I think.

Yes, it's Finland. Russia plays the winner of Sweden-Slovakia.

If Sweden wins it`s the late game, if Slovakia wins it`s the early game.

Canada Wins and Goes to Semi Finals.
Good game and good win by Canada again today.
Really wasn't much doubt after the first that they were going to win this game.
Guys played tight and the whole team was solid.
Shots were pretty even though so a good game by Zachary Fucale.
Paul Reinhart must be so proud of his sons. Good hockey players.

Nobody here hates Swedish hockey, it's just that no one cares. What's interesting is how the junior program in Sweden really began to compete on a regular basis since they began to study and copy Canadian hockey.
Canada may not win every tournament...but they are the model that every other country aspires to.

Not in general, no. That would be wrong.
I will hate it for the 60 minutes it takes for Canada to defeat Sweden in the gold medal game, however.

Sweden looks unstoppable thus far in the tournament. Canada will need to play a near perfect game to beat them if they face each other.
