That team has a pretty weak devenisve unit, Other Than Suter none of the defenseman are that good. Leaving Ryan and Yandle off would be a huge mistake

come on now, the golden goal was a bad goal, that being said Canada surely deserved the win, no question.
I've said it before, but Sweden is a really scary team this year, their D is very exciting and they have serious attacking power in that team.

Still not seeing how Yandle or Ryan doesn't make that roster. That's just silly.

So the same line-up as the OP but Carlson in for Johnson?
Surprised no Ryan and no Yandle for sure. Yandle especially seems better than a few of those defensemen at least.

Can't believe they took someone like Fowler and Carlson over Yandle, and didn't take Bobby Ryan.
Also no Jason Pominville, thought he would make it in there with his connections to Parise and Suter.

Those fake plastic laces look ridiculous. The jerseys this year are disgusting.

Was that Kyle Wellwood out there in the Carlson jersey during the announcement?

Seems like a 5th/6th place team to me, especially if Quick isn't on top of his game by then. They could surprise of course, as they do have a lot of depth, but their defensive core is average and they don't have a lot of goal scorers aside from Kessel and Kane.

Makes no sense to leave Yandle behind. I take him over Carlson, Orpik, Faulk, and Martin.
Ryan is better than Pacioretty, and Oshie for sure.

Kind of surprised Bobby Ryan and Jason Pomenville didn't make this team in place of guys like Blake wheeler and T.J. Oshie. But they are all good players that deserve a chance on the team.

Those are not great foundations to build a team on.
Kane and Suter only two skaters that make team Canada with Parise the only other guy who would get consideration.
They could get Miller to play out of his mind again but so could any team with their goaltender.
|
IMO, Joe Pavelski would make team Canada as well. Great player who is under-rated.

Forgot about Paul Martin, puzzling addition aside from his Pittsburgh connection. He's a guy Pittsburgh would have given away for a free a couple years ago. 11 points and a -1 this year on a stacked Pens team, much worse player than Yandle and a few other American defenders.

I would have him behind all 3 of his teammates and I think only one of them make it.
I think Pavelski would struggle to make Canada 2 if they made a second team.

They don't have the top end talent but they are a strong team with lots of grit and strong two way players.
I have a feeling the style of team they built is much more effective on smaller ice though .

this is bonkers insane
behind the scenes access to how the team was picked
it seems dreams were a large part of how the selections were made

in place of who?
Thornton and Couture might not make Canada and I would have them ahead of Pavelski, you watch the Sharks more, would you?
