There isn't a human being on the planet with a keener understanding of Kadri's precise value right now than Burke. Not only that, he knows the exact Calgary assets to dangle in front of Nonis. He knows Toronto's organizational blind spots.

This is what Fletcher did to us with Gilmour. We've waited two decades for vengeance. Let it be a blockbuster served ice cold.

I would weep for joy.

Burke likes his blockbuster. Baertschi, Brodie, Cammalleri (Half Salary), Berra for Kadri, Gardiner, Reimer, Liles

Many Calgary fans will say Calgary is giving up too much. Many Toronto fans would say the same thing from their end. But I think it is a pretty even trade.

That's what people said about Seguin.

Except Seguin wasn't their best/highest skilled center. They have 2 of the best 2-way centers in the game and almost their entire bottom 6 is made up of centers. They were in a great spot to get some good pieces back for a guy that wasnt fitting their team. Who is make Kadri redundant on the Leafs? Maybe if they had kept Grabovski this would make sense. The fact that he is on the block with no one on the roster to take his place tells me they just want him to get out.

Not to mention Carlyles comments from 24/7 about how highly Kadri thinks of himself.

That's why Kadri should not cost as much to acquire as Seguin. I am not stoked about acquiring him if we trade Sven, Poirier, Klimchuck, Gillies, Brodie(no doubt Monahan and 2014 1st are not even on the table).

I would be okay if the Flames dangled any vet except Gio. Backlund/Colborne and/or Stajan would be part of the deal. Smid/Wideman and/or Butler/SOB. A prospect like Knight/Reinhart/Granlund could also be dangled.

I hope Burke is able to fleece his old
Buddy Nonis and use some depth, cap space, and rental players to get it done. If Feaster was making this trade I would be worries but for now I believe in Burke and his trading abilities. Kadri has proven to have the skill to be a scorer at this level but perhaps a trade would help with his maturity

Still have no idea why Sutter didn't get Kadri back in the Phaneuf deal. Didn't land one young asset (prospect or draft pick) for the best young asset the Flames have had in the last decade.

Sorry, no Leaf/Flames trade. Flames will get bent over, slapped sideways, and totally raped again by dealing with the Leafs. Kadri is too small anyway. Pass. Give him to the Oilers

Because Sutter was all about immediate help. It was a disaster trade, I can't believe how long I tried to sell myself on that crap. Sometimes a fan just refuses to allow himself to believe the people running the team are that deluded.

That point was brought up at the time, and I remember a lot of people on CP already (unjustly) labelled Kadri a bust at that point.

Had Kadri even played a game before the Phaneuf trade?

Sutter wasn't rebuilding, he was trying to capture a last chance at glory with an aging core.

Umm... how is that even an even trade? Kadri is far and away considered the best asset in the deal regardless if you like him or not. What are the Leafs getting out of the deal? Cammy for this year? Getting rid of Liles? Reimer is considered to be better than Berra (which is the reason you threw in the two goalies in there isn't it?) Brodie and Gardiner is probably a wash but really the only reason Leafs make this deal is if they want to dump Kadri and they really like Brodie a whole lot more than Gardiner.

This sounds like a deal proposed by a Flames homer to me.

So Sven has no value? You fail to mention him when discussing the deal

Because Sutter is an f'n idiot who traded away my favourite player.

That's why.

So Igster... your favourite player is Phaneuf?

Using that logic..I still cant believe Feaster didn't get Crosby back in the Iginla deal.

Your example using that logic is very dumb.
