The games aren't. They are still fun to watch but when the only race the flames are in is for the top draft pick, the games just aren't that interesting.

And to counter about real fans posting in threads...wouldn't real fans be at every game? I know if I lives there I would be at every single game. Guess hat makes me more of a fan...

You can shame fair weather fans all you want, but it's kind of useless in the end. Calgary isn't even my #1 team, but when I watch a Flames game I sit down and see it through. It's not for some overt diehard love of the Flames, but rather it's just a love of hockey. Anything can happen in 60 minutes.

Nobody should be expected to watch every game, it's tough. But when you sit down to watch a game, you watch it for 60 minutes. It's the same at the Dome though, you get people shuffling out with 5 minutes left. I've never understood it myself, because even if your team is losing, that last 5 minutes can be the most exciting part of the game.

Fair weather hockey fans can watch as much or as little hockey as they please, and people should respect their right to. But at the same time, if you're a true hockey fan, I can't imagine not sitting down and enjoying a full game from your favourite team at LEAST once a year.

The games this year are because it is fun if we win, and ok if we lose because deep doown this season is about inserting some young talent into the lineup and doind well on draft day.

can still be a rabid fan but accept the reality.

Because you're channeling Darryl Sutter.

No, you just have to follow along for the whole 60 minutes and not turn off the game as soon as it goes sour.

A lot of the posters here attend games. That being said, Calgary's a #### expensive city to live in and not everyone here can afford to go to a Flames game.

Hence, why I mentioned Peter Maher PBP on 960. I resort to this most of the time because it's good to multitask with in the first place.

Nah, no you wouldn't. Very few people go to all the games...which is fine (personally I wouldn't want season tickets even if I could justify the expense).

I can't watch all the games either, although I do try to keep track and listen to the radio if not. Often times listening to Peter Maher call the games is more interesting than watching it live or on tv.

If you care about winning, this season is rough. However there are so many other interesting story lines to follow right now that to me make it much more interesting of a year than the last 2-3 where we just wallowed in purgatory.

I'm guessing you missed the 3rd period of the St. Louis game then. 3-1, but still.
So because people don't post in a game thread, and afterwards post a bunch of gifs that makes them better hockey fans? That's idiotic. I yell at my TV and complain just like every other fan, I just don't feel the urge to post every little thing.
But no, I did watch that game, one of the most entertaining in a long time.

Dependent on the game I suppose. If it's a Phoenix snoozefest down 3-0 in the 3rd then no, However games like the St.Louis comeback absolutely. Not everyone has time to watch full games all the time, especially when the most to look forward to is a better draft pick.

I thought you hadn't watched a full game in over a year? Taking that back now?

You guys who are starting this whole "good fan bad fan" crap need to shut your holes. You have no idea what is going in in another's life or how much they can put into being a "true" fan.

I have been a game pack holder for 10 years, everyone in my house has a jersey, but end up watching the games after the kids are in bed, sometimes at x 4 speed just so I can et it in. I sometimes come in here and ask if it's worth it because sometimes I'm. Just tired.

That said, can't imagine going an entire year within watching a full game. Especially this year when they have been pretty fun to watch. Not my place to judge though.

It's idiotic because you made it sound idiotic.

Was a one-off example of the kind of dedication the hardcores show and nothing more.

The issue is not how many games per season you watch, it's if you're able to sit through a full one even if its a crapfest.

No, over exaggeration on my part. Caught the ending of the game + OT, like I said not everyone has time to watch a full game, not to mention here on the Atlantic Coast most games don't end until 1:30am.

I live in Saskatchewan and have been to one game this year vs the Avs. I watch every other game on TV. I get pissed when I have to work and miss the games. I've missed 2 games all year, so ya I'd say I'm a little committed to this team.

All good, just clarifying!
I understand the difficultly of sitting down for whole games in a different time zone. Thankfully I have the benefit of PVR!

Interesting, I was actually under the impression that most of the dedicated posters here watched at least 90% of the games. Interesting that that isn't the case.

Stupid me stays up till 1am on the east coast watching all those games. Can't really help it, and I can't even get myself to tape it and wait till the next day to watch.

Addict I guess.

Default New Year New Team? One can Only Hope

Good to see the Flames franchise player get a goal, Sean Monahan is the guy who the Flames will be building around and the sooner they get going on it the better and faster this rebuild is going to go forward.

That was a dismal effort by the Flames.

I've been okay with coach Hartley but I'm really starting to think that the Flames are not a well coached team.

Flyers 1st and 3rd goals, the Flames wingers were out of position and collapsed down into the crease. Do they not know their assignment to cover their Dman or do they have a game plan?

Same with the power play recently, it's like they're just making it up as they go along, no intensity. Is it a lack of talent?

I don't think Brian Burke is going to be patient here.

I see Derek Smith and Shane O'Brien traded or waived soon.

Why doesn't Hartley split those 2 guys up? You can't have those 2 guys out there as a pairing. Not surprising they were both -2.

Call up Tyler Wotherspoon and give him a chance and a couple games.

Flames 0/2 on the powerplay, 43% in the face off circle and only 24 shots on net.

Things have to change soon and they will.

When was the last time that happened?

I believe the last time the Flames were down by 3 or more with more than 5 minutes left in the third was the Anaheim game on November 29, and it has happened 5 times all season by my count.

That stuff doesn't make someone a better fan. It makes them more emotional. And probably younger (I don't know any guys my age who post their every feeling and thought in real time - on CP or anywhere else).

I'd say giving up after 40 games is pretty weak and probably deserves some derision. I just don't get how a fan can continue to watch a team of overpaid floaters with no chance to legitimately win, but a bad team that legitimately has no chance to win is just not watchable. To me the former is way worse.
