That's crazy to hear that Johnny doesn't get much PP time, but at the same time it's awesome that he does the vast majority of his scoring at even strength.
Imagine what his numbers might look like if he did get 1st unit PP time.
Boston College prides itself on being perennial contender, racking up the stat sheet for one player takes second fiddle to progressing all players. They have to prepare for the time following Anno Jonnymi.
York will really roll his lines if they are ahead, and Johnny sees less ice in those occasions as well.
GENERALLY, there's a development method for offensive players requiring a certain number of puck touches per game. Puck touches give you confidence with the puck, confidence leads to scoring and so on.
Gaudreau gets puck touches, PLENTY of them, at 5-on-5. So they give PP time to lesser lights on the team (underclassmen usually) to get them puck touches.

Puck touches is now going to be a buzz term on Calgarypuck for at least the next three years. Thanks a lot, Freeway.

Boston College is playing an outdoor game at Fenway today. On the scoreboard where they usually have the AL East standings, they put up the scoring leaders for the teams playing.
Must have hired Bobby Ryan to paint the signs (both Gaudreau and Mauermann are spelled wrong)...
They should have just put "Hockey".
Photo is from yesterday, and they have been corrected in time for today's games.

For those looking for a few different angles of the plays by Gaudreau and Arnold.
The last goal near the end of the clip really highlights just how smooth Johnny's hands of silk are. Also, his awareness of the impending breakaway before it even ensues.

I'm not a big believer in NHLE, but with Gaudreau's obscene current scoring pace, this would translate into 30 goals and 62 points over an 82-game NHL season.
