No way Cammalleri gets a first rounder but Drouin would be a nice consolation prize.
Ok ok I forgot who said that but it was classic.

I get the feeling Burke is going to be aggressive trying to add a young established player and if Kadri is on the market he will be after him. I do think Wideman would have some value to the Leafs. Cammy/Backlund/Hudler could be added. Flames can take back any cap dumps. Kadri plays with a bit of edge and has a lot of upside.

Do you guys think Burke even wants Kadri? Their relationship was pretty sour at times.

I don't think he would want him. I remember the draft when Burke was trying hard to move up one spot to get a player (can't remember who), and he was pissed that he did not get him. He looked pissed that he had to pick Kadri and if i remember right, the interview after the pick was less than jubilant.

If Kadri is actually on the trade block it's going to take an extortionate return for Toronto to trade him. Just like with Gardiner, the fact that he plays in T.O. inflates his value and no team in their right minds would meet the asking price. They more than likely would be asking for Monahan &/or our 1st. Not worth anywhere near that IMO.
Burke's not a massive fan of Kadri's if I recall correctly. He had him playing with the Marlies to work on his 200-foot game, or whatever 'defence' is called these days.

Baertschi and/or Brodie have to be included and it may take both.
The Leafs aren't going to trade a 23 year old Top 6 center for UFA's. Throwing in Gardner as well is just insane.
If we trade for Kadri as Resolute said we are trading something back that most fans will not want to give up.
|
And there's no way we should give up Baertschi and Brodie for a smallish C that is not looking anywhere near as good as last year's (fluke?) season
If the price is too high, you don't do it.
Oh, and to those of you that think Kadri is some kind of elite player, there is a reason why he is currently 'available' from a team that is short on Cs

He wanted Tavares or Brayden Schenn I believe. There is also the video where Murray asks him to swap picks Burke asks him if he is taking Kadri and Murry says yes and Burke says he is picking him. He has been known to trade for guys heras drafted before so I could see Burke having interest

This story sure seems to have legs. The Sportsnet crew was giving it some attention tonight. Wonder where he ends up? Hope it's not here.

Kadri is a very nice secondary player but he certainly isn't someone your mortgage a lot to acquire. He just isn't the personality you want at the core of your team.
Big pass.
Again, as Cliff and others have said, you have to DRAFT your core. There's still a lot of work to do on that front before we start offering up prospects for trades to fill in the roster.

Although I agree with you on both counts (Kadri isn't elite, you draft your core) that doesn't mean you don't take advantage of a player like this becoming available. Burke knows Kadri. If he has a bad attitude like some are convinced of than he won't acquire him. But I could build a Stanley Cup team filled with nothing but these players with supposedly bad attitudes (as reported by a bunch of fans that have never met them). If Burke isn't concerned about the attitude than you consider it. Chances are Baertschi is years away from hitting his potential and chances are his potential is simil r or lower to Kadri's. Kadri is further along and plays a key position.
This team looks a LOT better with Kadri/Monahan than it does with Baertschi/Monahan. We are deep at LW. Trading one prospect doesn't exclude drafting and developing our own prospects. The problem is I doubt that we have what Toronto is looking for. And there is a finite price I am willing to pay even if we have it. So I doubt we see Kadri in a Flames uniform.

Truculence may not be the right word, but Kadri has a lot more tenacity than Baertschi does. We lack players that can get under the skin of the opposition, especially ones with skills.

The Leafs are up against the cap and need defensemen that can actually play defense. I can't see them wanting Wideman even if we take Liles back.

I thought that after missing out on the top end guys it was Kadri that he wanted and didn't trade back because he wanted to make sure he got him at 7 and he wasn't gone later.

I agree we shouldn't give up those guys and think the cost for Kadri will be too much for the Flames.
I am also not sure anyone thinks Kadri is elite. I haven't even read someone calling him a 1st line C but may have missed it.

I would t mind kadri depending on the cost. I think backlund should be part of the deal going the other way but it depends how much more it would take. Kadri and monahan would be a good duo going forward

Lets play Incarcerated Bob's game.... For Reimer and Kadri, would Sven, Backlund and Camelleri get that done? Obviously eating 50% of Cammy and/or taking Liles back.
Maybe Burkie wants Gleason and is waiting for Toronto to trade Liles for Gleason and then pull the trigger.

Seguin was traded because Boston have Bergeron and Krecji filling top-2 C positons. Philly had Briere and the emergence of Giroux (as well as cited problems with team rules) that allowed them to send Richards and Carter packing. I was pretty young when Thornton was traded, I don't remember the specifics, but i remember it was talked about a lot.
Who are Kadri's replacements at center in Toronto?
