Default 2014 NFL Playoffs Thread

Wild-card weekend:

AFC -

(5) Kansas City @ (4) Indianapolis Jan. 4 2:35 PM MT (NBC)
(6) San Diego @ (3) Cincinnati Jan. 5 11:05 AM MT (CBS)

NFC -

(6) New Orleans @ (3) Philadelphia Jan. 4 6:10 PM MT (NBC)
(5) San Francisco @ (4) Green Bay Jan. 5 2:40 PM MT (FOX)

I have no clue on the Eagles/Saints game but I like the Bengals, Niners, and Colts in the other games.

Where would people recommend watching the Colts Chiefs game on Saturday afternoon?

Saints will be in tough in Philly.

Forecast temperature at game time is ~25F, not a good thing when Drew Brees is your QB.

In the south end, Peanuts Pub has a loyal group of NFL supporters, usually a good atmosphere.

If you would like to look at the wait staff without gagging, I would suggest Shark Club/Shanks.

Some juicy point spreads here.

Indy (-2.5) over KC
Philly (-2.5) over New Orleans
San Diego (+6.5) over Cincy
Green Bay (+3) over San Fran

I live right by Peanuts, it's become my new go-to spot for a quick stop on a weeknight to watch some sports for an hour. Love how basically every T.V. has a different game on, and you also get free entertainment with some of the clientele. It legitimately looks like extras from Paddy's Pub in It's Always Sunny. I love it.

Love the free peanuts too, just wish they weren't so skunky. Only been to Shark Club once, seemed a little ######y & expensive. But I bet that massive wall of a T.V. is money for sports.

Colts
Bengals
Eagles
49ers

Like I said in the other thread, wouldn't be surprised if I went 4-0 or 0-4. I think 3 of the 4 games especially could go either way.

Colts, Chargers and 49ers

I'm not picking in the game I'm clearly biased in. I think the Chargers have been huge in big games this year, I think they're going to break the Bengals hearts.

Die Colts! No franchise in the NFL has caused me more grief than the Colts. One of these years I need to be rewarded for my loyalty to these bloody franchises who never win in the playoffs and seldom even make it.

So playoff blackouts...momentary issue or future trend?

Quote:
The Indianapolis Colts are headed to the NFL playoffs, but does Indianapolis have playoff fever?

It's a relevant question this morning with the Colts still trying to unload some 7,000 tickets for Saturday's AFC wildcard game at Lucas Oil Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to the team.

At issue now is whether the game will be sold out in time to lift the NFL-mandated local television blackout.

League rules dictate that teams must sell out games at least 72 hours prior to kickoff to ensure that the game can be shown on local television (defined as markets within 75 miles). Because Wednesday is a holiday, the NFL has extended the deadline, giving teams an extra day. For the Colts, the 48-hour mark is Thursday at 4:30.

The Colts, whose tickets start at $56, aren't alone in this regard. The Cincinnati Bengals, who host a playoff game against the San Diego Chargers, reportedly had 10,000 tickets remaining as of Monday.

I think this is going to start becoming a bigger problem than the NFL thinks. NFL tickets are absurdly expensive. I'd also argue that the casual fan doesn't care if the game gets blacked out and the diehards will always find a way to watch.

You can add Green Bay to the list of teams who aren't selling out. 13k tickets still left at Lambeau.

Don't they have like a 8 year waiting period to get season tickets?

Chiefs in a very tight game.
Unless pristine weather and temperature, Eagles.
Bengals (though this is a prime upset candidate)
49'ers...unless the weather is terrible.
