Seriously, does anyone know when the last time Canada lost to a team in this tourney other than USA, Russia or Sweden?

It has to be a long, long time ago.

Terrible goaltending, but the bottom line is that Canada lacked the intensity that the CR had. They didn't want it enough.

That game against the US looms large

If Canada couldn't win against a mediocre Czech team with mediocre goaltending, how are they going to beat the US with Gillies?

Because Canada dominated that game from start to finish.

Canada had a vast majority in terms of puck possession, a vast majority in terms of chances and the Czechs had to rely on two lucky goals and some getting the borderline calls in their favor.

The Czechs were badly (it was not close) outplayed and usually when that happens you don't say that the team that was vastly inferior deserves to win the game.

Patterson sucks.

Thank you! Can't imagine why Sutter put him in, stupid decision!

Sutter deserved to lose for starting Patterson. He hasn't been good all tournament. I understand the benching of McDavid, but then don't go back to him in the shoot out. Weird decisions by Sutter.

They had to win that game anyways to get the easy road.

This doesn't change much as lose to US and tough road, win against US and they should have 1st place anyways.

The player of the game doesn't count?

They didn't create chances, they didn't control the puck, it looked like a PP for large parts of the game for Canada even 5 on 5 but they played a good game?

Alright then.

Peasantson is a complete disaster. He single handedly cost us that game.

It's a joke. Quebec was a reliable producer of goalies for decades. Now?

Maybe Canada needs to kidnap Gillies overnight.

Alright then.
Czech have never been the team who controls the puck. They are known as the counter-attack team.

He played on the team last year is pretty much the only reason. Hasn't even been the best goalie on his own team. It was a stupid decision seen from a mile away.
