It's actually a pretty common name for a girl in the Balkans, particularly in Serbia.

It seems like some time in the 90s, it went from being a boys name to a girls name.. Around the same time all the Jaydens, Braydens, Adens and Ryders started to surface.

Wow, anyone saddled with a name like that will never succeed in life.

My 2 favorite names I ever heard were ####head (pronounced shí-thād) and Abcde (pronounced áb-cé-dé).

I remember reading a few years back that a couple in northern Alberta named their son "Duramax".

Hong Kong people tend to think it's trendy to have a funky English name. The problem is, I don't think they know exactly how to do it right. I swear a lot of them just flip through an English dictionary and pick random English words that they think look cool. Some I have seen (no joke) are:

Kingdom
Alien
Hymen
Apple
Dinosaur
Benz

And then there are ones that I think they just made up thinking they sound nice.

Sicily
Florinda
Winifer

There are also a couple first and last names that are just funky. I saw a guy at Uni named Nice Joy. And I work with a guy named Albert Albert.

Hymen? Somebody named a kid Hymen.

I can imagine the mom and daughter getting separated in a mall.

"Attention! A woman lost her Hymen in The Bay. If found please call 0 for Security."

White 30-40 something professionals in Calgary are the worst for pretentious, ridiculous kid names. These are some of the names I've heard from people I know:
  • Paxton
  • Jaxon
  • Huntington
  • Dresden
  • Stockwell
  • Chalmers
  • Boynton
  • Thadeus
  • Atticus
  • Brixton

I'm sorry but seeing a little snot nosed runt with a dump in his pants respond to the ridiculous name Chalmers is just unintentionally hilarious.

I get that these might be traditional names, but I can't imagine it's always easy on the kids growing up in a dominantly English society.
I've a coworker whos name is Gagindeep.
