It's actually a pretty common name for a girl in the Balkans, particularly in Serbia.

It seems like some time in the 90s, it went from being a boys name to a girls name.. Around the same time all the Jaydens, Braydens, Adens and Ryders started to surface.

Hong Kong people tend to think it's trendy to have a funky English name. The problem is, I don't think they know exactly how to do it right. I swear a lot of them just flip through an English dictionary and pick random English words that they think look cool. Some I have seen (no joke) are:
Kingdom
Alien
Hymen
Apple
Dinosaur
Benz
And then there are ones that I think they just made up thinking they sound nice.
Sicily
Florinda
Winifer
There are also a couple first and last names that are just funky. I saw a guy at Uni named Nice Joy. And I work with a guy named Albert Albert.

White 30-40 something professionals in Calgary are the worst for pretentious, ridiculous kid names. These are some of the names I've heard from people I know:

I'm sorry but seeing a little snot nosed runt with a dump in his pants respond to the ridiculous name Chalmers is just unintentionally hilarious.
