I agree. This getting "bigger idea" is getting old already.

The reason the Heat exist is to develop players for the Flames. Its great that they are winning, but for Burke and the Flames it is largely irrelevant.

If they were being led to their winning ways by a bunch late twenty/early thirty something AHL journeymen, then maybe it would be irrelevant.
However, 3 of their top 5 scorers are rookies, and 8 of their top 11 scorers are either rookies, or second year NA pros......plus their goalie, and two of their D-men are rookies as well (three rookie D-men when Sieloff comes back). I sure hope the Flames brass doesn't consider that irrelevant.

I don't believe Burke cares, he is going to do exactly what he wants to with the players he wants to do it with. He's done it in the past and a tiger doesn't change it's stripes. Take a look back at Toronto, Kadri and Steen weren't his style of player. What did he do, buried one on the farm and limited the others ice time to the point where he became very very ineffective. Best thing that happened to both players happened when Burke was no longer in charge of their future. Again only time will tell, Burke will have his players good or bad and those will be the ones he goes with.

Steen was traded to St Louis on November 24, 2008. Burke was hired by the Leafs on November 29, 2008.
If Kadri isn't his type of player, why did he draft him? Hell, he even had an offer on the table at the draft from Ottawa to trade down two spots, but the Sens said they were going to pick Kadri, so Burke didn't make the deal.

MacDonald is probably toast this off-season and MAYBE Gillies goes pro and tandems with Ortio. Hardly a log-jam.

Next year should be okay but in two years I expect Ortio and Gillies to pounding on the NHL door. If Berra and Ramo continue to improve as well, decisions will need to be made.

agreed, I also expect that the Flames will draft a goaltender in the upcoming draft. Hopefully another potential #1 like Thatcher Demko

Really tough to tell since most scouting services publish their top 30. But Craig Button doesn't have Demko in his top 90.
If the draft was done today I would think the earliest he would go is the 3rd round.

It depends (a) how much he plays and (b) how much the scouts discount his numbers because he's on Boston College and their blueline is strong.
I would wager late second/early third.

Man, I really hope Ortio can make the next step. It would be awesome to have Kipper Lite.

Me. I'm sick as #### right now haha.
There was no practice yesterday, so not sure what the injury situation in like. As far as I know, Ferland, Sieloff and Begin are the only injured players right now.
I know Begin's been working in the weight room, but hasn't had any ice time yet.

Is there a time frame for Sieloff's return? Is he working out at all?
