6'6, 248 pounds. McGrattan taught him to fight.
Yikes

It can't hurt to sign him, but this guy seems like a throw away of a 3rd round pick in a good draft.

I think it speaks volumes about this past draft that Burke has signed two guys in the last 48 hours or so. He obviously wasn't bullsh*tting when he said Calgary had the best draft.
I suppose it's only a matter of time until Poirier gets signed.

likely a dumb, often asked/answered question, but do these ELCs that aren't playing pro count against the contract max?

It should be noted that that 248 pounds is of sheer muscle. He had the lowest body fat level in training camp. Less than Cammalleri who is known for being a fitness freak.

Could be in the works, but kind of strange that kulak. Culkin or Gordon haven't been signed yet. Flames lose their rights if not signed before June.
Also strange that Kanzig got same dollars as Klimchuk. Typically 3rd round picks don't get the same dollars as 1st rounders unless they have done something to increase their value (eg impressive showing at wjc, playoffs etc)

No, the sliding contracts don't count.

Not until their first year played pro. So it would count against the 50 contracts potentially when they play for Abby or CGY.

Kanzig is a peculiar player. Could end up being a Chara type superstar or a Luke Schenn type blah. Mind you a Luke Schenn type in a third round pick wouldnt be too bad now.
All in all, the kids a beast. Glad they signed him.

Nice, but it seems kinda early. Interested to hear what Burke has to say about it.

Yet there were popular scouting resources that had Kanzig around that range.
Surprised he got signed so soon, but then again, this is exactly the type of player Burke covets after all.

4 points I believe?
Even the least offensively talented, stay at home NHL defensemen like Sarich, Warrener and Regehr were able to put up points at a 0.50 PPG pace in junior.

I think Hal Gill has been thrown around for a comparable. Completely okay with that for a 3rd rounder. (for top end)
