Some of you should try to drive a long vehicle before to criticize how they drive. Some things seem weird, but are done simply out of necessity.
It isn't like trucks are the only people that try to turn left way after the light turns, either.

hahahaha ok then. I've driven plenty of long vehicles and pulled many a trailer, but that's immaterial.
The turn light is red, the through light is green, they have plenty of time to stop, but they don't. I regularly watch 2 semis drive straight through the red light.
If you don't believe me go watch that intersection for 10 minutes.

Strange, I drove a BMW for a few years and never noticed that. In fact, didn't notice any difference driving the BMW or the Nissan at the time. I've driven manual all my life from my first vehicle up to the one I drive today.
Do you stall at red lights or are you distracted because you're focusing too much on gear selection, since you're still learning? I remember getting honked at or getting dirty looks when I got my 1st manual in the early 90's and was learning the ropes. A lot of that was from starting up slow (or worse, stalling) and sometimes not paying as much attention as I should because I was focusing too much on driving stick. I can only imagine the reaction now with the amount of rage drivers seem to have today. Glad I got that out of the way before the city grew and the drivers all went postal.

I work for a trucking company, I know to usually cut them slack. But this one was bad. The light turned red when the guy in front of him had just started going. He cleared, we started to go, then another guy pulled in front of us who could've easily stopped.

Good thread; we only have roughly 4 other threads talking about winter driving right now!

Oh, I hate drivers that drive on the side on single lane residential streets to try to pass you at an intersection when no one is turning at the light.
Or drivers that take a straight through traffic only lane when there is a long line for a turn off lane and then stop right before the turn off with their signal, essentially blocking all traffic behind them.
If one of those two apply to you, you are a ######, and your time is not worth anymore than mine or anyone else that had the patience to line up and wait to get through.

Can we all just agree to not let these people in no matter what happens?

1. People who don't know how to merge
2. People who do brake checks to be dickheads. Last time someone did that to me he got up to speed on the highway and just stopped dead and I hit him. He ended up with a broken nose.

I had a cab suddenly and inexplicably stop (completely stop) in front of me in the fast lane of Deerfoot going over the calf robe bridge one night this summer. Scared the crap out of me.

That further exacerbates the problem, be the bigger man/woman. Let them know you don't like it by all means, but let the jackass in.

Oh, and when Calgary turns into the slushbowl wash your goddamn car. At least wash your windows off so that you can see.
I take Deerfoot to work every morning and I see way too many idiots with cars so crusted with dirt that they can only possibly see directly in front of them.

What are you gonna do tho? Ram the semi? I finger them vigorously (insert XXX joke) and it makes me feel a little better, but at the end of the day there's f-all you can do.

Agreed. We can always pester 311 and ask that a red light camera be set up there.

Related: Brush the F'ing snow off your windows before leaving your driveway/parking lot. Don't wait for gravity and the spring thaw to do it for you!

That can't be a real thing? I mean it sounds ridiculous, but it's ridiculous enough to be true.

I just... I can't. I'm sorry, I just can't. Someone else will do it, but I'm making a completely irrelevant stand.

+1, although especially in the last week it can be the case that the car is semi-clean when the trip starts and covered in mud by the time it gets back. That was me going to Sunshine and back on Monday.

I had a wierd situation a couple weeks ago. I'm on a side street in down town Red Deer signaling to make a left hand turn at a light. Guy across the intersection has his left hand signal on with no one behind him. Light turns green, I turn left and the other car cancels his turn signal and comes straight at me. Giving me a look of stern disbelieve the whole time. You could have boiled an egg on my fore head at that moment.
I wondered what would have happened if he would have hit me, besides me being charged with assault. Are the cops going to believe my story? Only if there are witnesses I guess. I probably would have been at fault in the eyes of the law.

People who drive below the speed limit AND run red lights. Not only do they make me stop at lights I normally would have gone through had I had been at normal speed, I get to catch up to them in time for the next red light.
