Lucic is just finally doing what several of us already have already, writing off Vancouver as a place to go based on their fans.
I used to visit Vancouver every few years or so. Even when i have to go on business i can't wait to leave.
Very pretty scenic city, cool clubs but full of a-holes and it what a stench downtown.

There's nothing wrong with the City or the people of Vancouver, it's just Canuck fans that are scum.
Instead of disowning the City, Lucic should just say that he will never ever sign or allow to be traded to the Canucks, and that he will dominate them every time they play him and make Canuck fans cry.
The guy who attacked Lucic is obviously a Canuck fan or else he wouldn't even know who Lucic is. I know many Vancouverites who wouldn't even recognize Lucic on the street, let alone sucker punch them. This is only a Canuck fan problem. Garbage franchise, garbage team, garbage fanbase.

Dude, you don't get it. Stay Golden gets it. Puckluck gets it. Which isn't at all surprising given that they're two of the more astute contributors to this forum.
If you are from Vancouver, you are essentially human garbage. Full stop. Well, human might be overstating it. Anyone who was born there, has moved there and failed to flee immediately, or is descended from anyone from the area is, simply put, trash. There's no variation, no good apples in the basket, just cretins from White Rock to North Van, from Lions Bay to Maple Ridge. It's as if there's some genetic predisposition to horrifying classlessness, or perhaps some chemical in the groundwater turning people into semi-human goblin-like creatures whose morals, scruples and sense of basic decency have been eschewed in favour of a penchant for pretentious expensive coffee and fixed gear bicycles.
That guy in the video probably isn't a Canuck fan. Listen to Lucic; he keeps pointing out that the guy doesn't even know who he is. Honestly, he probably doesn't know where he is, given that if you go by the demographics, it's a safe bet he's on drugs. This is just how they are there. If a Vancouverite is having a bad day, he or she may simply assault you, unprovoked, in public and in full view of everyone. Heck, listen to the officers - do they sound surprised? No, because this is a mundane, every day activity. A##hattery like this is so common you might call it a favourite local pastime. "Hey, let's all go for a nooner at the 'Nat, and then on our way home we can knock out some unsuspecting senior with a 2x4!"
All in all, it truly is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. I for one am glad that Calgarypuck members remain vigilant with respect to any news item discussing the B.C. lower mainland, so that it can be accurately interpreted as reflecting terribly on the entire population thereof. If anyone's considering a petition to amend the constitution to deprive these troglodytes of their Charter protections, send it my way. I'll be the first signature.

I'm an Australian who moved to Vancouver 1.5 years ago. I hate this place so much I am moving back to Australia in February. It's truly full of absolutely idiots. I'm getting paid around 50k more than what I would in Australia (medium 6 figures) and still can't find it in my heart to stay. Feels like I am wasting my life.
Hockey is good though.

Weird, because I haven't done any Vancouver defending in this thread or any thread recently. I don't really post on CP much anymore. I can't imagine I've been missed.
There's been plenty in this thread that I don't agree with or normally would have engaged in mindless debate/bitch fests with, but I really don't care anymore. Not sure why I did when I used to go on my rampages.

Lucic isn't as eager to dump on Vancouver as those who came to this thread - with their personal axes to grind.
Lucic Statement, Dec 18:
Quote:
This has been a very difficult week for me given the recent events that took place in my hometown of Vancouver. As I have had
more time to think I want to make it clear that regardless of what has happened, I am still – and always will be – proud to be
from there. It is home. While the actions of a few individuals have deeply upset me and will impact the time I spend downtown
going forward, I will not let those incidents diminish the love and pride I have for the city as a whole. This will be my final
comment on this subject.
|
Expect Lucic to learn more from recent events, about how to act & speak, than the posters in this thread will.

He probably has to retract it because he's afraid of his family's homes being burned down.

50k more isn't really all that much if you make medium six figures (500k is what I'm assuming you mean as medium).
10% salary cut to return home! likely doesn't really say that much bad about Vancouver, especially if we are talking 450k vs. 500k. I think you'd find it takes more than 10% to get most people to stay away from home especially if home Australia.

I can't even respond to your post, it's a little ridiculous. Thanks for telling me Lesnar never fought Rua, really needed the heads up on that one. Sorry I used the word analogously, too hard of a concept for you to grasp so you fly off the handle just like the rest of your drivel. How can I respond to you when you are making assumptions that are so drastically incorrect it's nonsensical. (I ended with a period because it's rhetorical so don't bother responding you clearly have no interest in logical discourse).

Nailed it. I live here in vancouver now, and this is the scenario perfectly described. I was back in Calgary over the summer and had an awesome time with friends and also the random people you cross patches with in conversation. The genuine kindness and non######bagery was a breath of fresh air. Appreciate it Calgarians.

Yzerman, I assume you live here in vancouver, do you not see the scumbags and dbags described that help make vancouver what it is? Of course not everyone is like this, but I would say the majority is.
On a side note, I would say, and knowing friends of his, Lucic is of this same ilk as that described above. Do I know him? No. But even the video illustrates he's no Gretzky or Yzerman.

Yeah, good call everyone. Way to get this off your chests. Some excellent back patting all around and I for one am so extremely happy to witness such fantastic execution of self-gratification in this very thread. I think, actually, we pretty much have this whole discussion and topic shut case closed. This is it, this, is the answer. We are better and they- those awful wretched Vancouverites are the worst people born unto the Earth itself.
That's because, obviously, 3 people challenged a pro hockey player to a fight on a street outside of a bar. And due to the other miscellaneous stories about...bars. And the people that frequent them. NEVERTHELESS, ALL... of Vancouver, and ALL of the people from Vancouver, are the worst people on Earth with suspect morals and vile personalities.
We can now state loudly and proudly and with a deep sense of satisfaction that, after reading this thread, we as a population living in Calgary are by far the best in existence and there is simply no debating that. Because of those bars, and the people in them.
Case closed.

Even if this incident never happened we'd still be better than Vancouver. Does it even need to be said honestly? The people in Calgary are way better than the people in Vancouver. It's not patting ourselves on the back it's just honesty and a fact. Calgarians are far superior to Vancouverites. We don't burn our city to the ground because of a hockey game. We cheer side by side by the tens of thousands without any trouble other than a few titties hanging out. That's being a Calgarian. That's the difference between being from Calgary and being from Vancouver.

haha... I know, I was agreeing with you. Didn't you read my post?
You don't actually expect me to start debating this with you do you? People who make comments like the ones you're making are just... well... there isn't much to talk about really. Making these wide-sweeping statements about cities of people over 2.5MM is almost on stupidness par with Megyn Kelly's assertion about Santa's ethnicity.

I understand that you don't wanna debate something you have no chance of winning.
Vancouver is like that beautiful girl on the outside who has no redeeming qualities on the inside. Beautiful city filled with an extremely large amount of dbags. Calgary is its ugly twin but has the personality that more than makes up for the ugly looks.
