So many ppl are ready to trade the 21 year old its ridiculous.

I think that perhaps a few posters aren't so high on Baertschi now, but the majority of posters here do in fact still see him as a cornerstone piece.
I personally still rank him as one of the few blue-chip prospects. Him, Monahan, Gaudreau and Jankowski are the highest skilled and highest upside prospects in the system (IMO), and each have varying levels of risk. Other prospects have arguably that level of skill, so I don't want to omit anyone necessarily (for instance, I think Granlund and Klimchuk could be categorized with them, even Poirier who perhaps isn't as 'skilled', but has a wonderfully effective game and toolset).
I think that perhaps it is a combination of Baertschi being over-confident thinking his place on the team was assured, and many people's views that feel it should have been assured. When suddenly he is not performing as some people hoped/expected, he suddenly becomes a bit less shiny.
Prospects take time to develop sometimes - even when they show utter flashes of brilliance and success. This is just growing pains, and I don't think for a second that Burke or anyone else in the Flames' org looks at Baertschi right now as being something other than a blue-chipper. If they did, then they should package up Baertschi right away as I would bet most orgs in the NHL still classify him as a very good prospect.

New Heat Report as well: http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=696220
Quote:
The 21-year-old was genuinely excited about joining the American league's top team, which becomes an even more lethal squad with his addition. In 32 career AHL games with the Abbotsford Heat, Baertschi has collected 10 goals and 26 points.
"It's awesome. That was the part that was exciting about it. If you come into a team which is not successful then it's a little more difficult. Coming to a team that's really got going this year, that have been playing really outstanding - I've been watching highlights and I've been studying them too, so that was important for me because now, for me, it's much easier to make the transition."

Strong dislike for Eddy? Source?
Seriously. Where are you getting your info from?
IMO, unless you can come up with something concrete to back up your position, I think you should stop using this thread to slander Ward and PMM.

Flamesaresmokin. That's my bet.
Dislike go Baertschi? Check.
Extremely critical of coaching and management? Check.
Douchy posting style that utilizes personal opinion as fact? Check.
Just saying.

I hate how I try to follow the Heat, then promptly forget about them. It's bad that it takes Svens demotion for me to follow them a little closer again.

In relation to burkes comments when he was with the ducks... He didn't say anything about the heat, he said when he was with the ducks they thought Calgary had one of the best if not the best draft class from 2013. I don't think he mentioned the heat.
The bestart of the heat winning in my opinion is that they are getting contributions from legit prospects: granlund, knight, reinhart, wotherspoon, ferland, ortio, and to some extent jooris and hanowski. That is what is most promising. Having guys like street Byron jones etc is necessary for a winning team, but I don't get excited when they rack up points.
Really excited to see Sven there this season, I would like to see him with knight and reinhart as a line.

Baertschi - Street - Hanowski
Baertschi - Knight - Reinhart
Baertschi - Granlund - Ferland
All kinds of intriguing possibilities.

Why haven't the Heat played in 5 days? Early Christmas break? This lack of Flames-related hockey is driving me crazy...

I would throw Gillies into the mix as a blue-chip prospect also...
I just find it annoying how we complain about not really developing our own talent and then when a 21 year old, with big upside, struggles suddenly we should trade him.
Baertschi, Gaudreau, Monahan, Gillies, Brodie, Klimchuk, Poirier and whoever we draft next (Ekblad) should all be the building blocks of this organization moving forward.

They just got ahead of everyone else in the sked. They play tomorrow.
Michael Ferland was injured in practice and did not make the trip.

With Bancks, Eddy and Baertschi in and Ferland out, here's my guess
top 6:
Baertschi - Granlund - Olson
Knight - Street - Hanowski
bottom:
MacDermid - Reinhart - Bancks
Jooris - McKelvie - Nemisz
xEddy
xElson
Man... wouldn't a Ferland - B.Jones - Byron line make this team fierce. I really don't think either are coming back. How did they manage to fit them both? I guess they sent down Baertschi and traded Jackman and that was enough?

If both players play all three games on the road trip, Street will have played his 200th AHL game and Olson will have played his 100th AHL game. Both should be achieved on Sunday against Hamilton.

The Herald story on Baertschi says he'll be playing on a line with Granlund and Reinhart.
