The Rangers, Devils, etc are trying to catch Carolina because they are in that division with Carolina and passing them would put them third in that division.

Florida has to catch Toronto for fifth place in that division, or no dice.
I did not disagree with you on that, that is why I posted the realignment explanation.

Haha, Marek just called Brian Lawton Neal Broten with him sitting right next to him. Sportsnet never ceases to amaze me with their ineptitude.

Love how instead of showing the goal, Sportsnet shows the Taylor Hall toe drag that failed.

Never change Edmonton hype machine.

Oilers are now officially in second last (Islanders even with a game in hand).

I honestly never thought it would be possible for a team to be this historically bad during the cap era.

Clearly, building good hockey teams, is all about number of rings you have.

Yakupov is of course a -2, didn't even really need to look it up.

The Oilers are pretty much short-handed whenever he's on the ice.

He's been a + player once since October 22nd. That's 25 of 26 games where he's either been even or a minus player for the night. Probably the worst top six player in the league right now.

Edit: I must apologize to Resolute btw; no way would I want Yakupov on the Flames anymore, he's just absolutely terrible in almost every facet of the game.

Yikes. Good on Bryz for even keeping the score respectable. 6 on 4 for almost 2 full minutes and they can barely get in the zone. Absolutely horrendous.

Gagner was the worst player on the ice and directly responsible for at 2 GA

Stellar!

“@DobberHockey: Nail Yakupov and Sam Gagner are now a combined minus-39. No two other players in the #NHL combine to get that low. #Oilers”

Pretty good start to the career for Jones. Six starts, 6 wins, 3 shutouts.

Oilers shut out for the 2nd time in 3 games. Amazing with such a "high octane" offence. Good to see Justin Schultz fading into the ether, another over-hyped Oilers prospect becomes obsolete.

Yakupov should be in the AHL along with Hopkins.

The Oilers are 20 points out of the last playoff spot in the West ... after 36 games. What a horrifying feeling it must be that the team you've been hyping the crap out of for years is a legitimate disaster. They're going to have to blow it up. After all the talking from that fanbase, it looks good on them.

Ok, but you and Karl were mistaken about the rankings, claiming that Carolina occupies the last playoff spot in the East in reference to Florida, which is not the case.

They do have the least amount of points out of all the Eastern Conference playoff teams, but Toronto is currently the team that Florida would have to pass in order to secure a playoff spot, not Carolina.
