Nowhere close as in currently being nowhere close to being in the playoffs, and thus inevitably extending the streak a few more years.

I agree with this. Flames make the playoffs in 2016 and win their first series as an underdog.

Brodie, Gio, Sven, Colborne, Bouma and one of Ramo or Berra and Ortio as the starter will still be around.

Add in the beef that Burke wants and we have a solid group. If Russell can follow this season up with this awesome play, ten keep him too but that is too early to tell.

interesting. You predict a playoff victory in 2019. Look at the Flames roster in 07/08 - not a single player from that team remains (granted Gio was in Russia).

The current team is going to have massive roster turnover this summer and for the foreseeable future. I wouldn't be surprised if 4 or 5 of the players you named are gone 12 months from now.

They came close in '06 and '08 (both 7 games)

If Iggy hadn't shat the bed against the Ducks in that last game, that team might've actually done something in those playoffs. (I mean they would've faced the Oilers.. haha)

I hope its soon. I was going to eat this chocolate bar if the Flames beat the Ducks back in '06. It's still in my freezer

This city deserves some playoff hockey and especially some playoff series wins! It has been far too long.

With the other thread on who we may want to see Calgary play in the first round, interesting how only 14 months later, things are rapidly progressing compared to almost every post.

That being said, it is still a long ways until the end of this season.

Props to this post, 14 months later (nothing guaranteed of course, but trending nicely towards this possibility)

It's been 12 months...

Seriously though, while there is always more turnover than fans seem to expect, that 07/08 team was veteran laden - not to mention a rebuild - so it's no surprise that that the turnover since then was extremely high

Hopes for the second.
