Co-sign on Cassini. I was part of a wedding party in July that stopped there during a photo shoot. We ducked inside and the staff and wines were excellent. I think we bought three cases between our group. I stopped back there this October to pick up some more and they remembered the wedding immediately, including the colours of our vests and the girls' dresses. There were about 1,000 fruit flies in the tasting room. Other than that, it was excellent.

I've had the pleasure of having a couple long chats with Adrian. Guy is super nice and super excited about the stuff he's going to have coming out next year. It's a shame their merlot is done for this vintage, cause it was absolutely fantastic. May be some at the winery though.

Agreed about Adrian and Cassini. Good wines at good prices. I presented his Maximus at a blind tasting here in Shanghai and it scored round 92-93 from most judges. Made a few people realize what Canadian wine can be. Beat the top Bordeaux in the tasting.

That is awesome to hear.
As I understand it, the quality of BC wine has been undeniable for a few years at tastings. The issue has been, and will be going forward, the amount of wine we can actually make.

Volume, pricing and consumer recognition are all problems, but quality definitely is not.

I cautiously suggest Road 13. The owners, Mick and Pam, are some of the nicest people you'll meet. They really want you to enjoy the wine and the experience. The wine, however, is hit and miss. It's one vineyard I'd really recommend going to and trying. Their premium line is called Jackpot and they have this in the private tasting room for $10. I think there were about 15 different bottles the last time I was there. Their slogan is it's all about the dirt, and lately, that's what the wine tastes like. It's really, really earthy. Of the 15 bottles I sampled, I enjoyed 4 of them. The year before I enjoyed 8 or so. Unlike Burrowing Owl, where I'd enjoy basically any red they have, these I ensure I sample before I buy. The Sevnty-Four K wine, (formerly Rockpile) was great two years ago. The last two vintages were dreadful. The Honest John's red was better than it last year. This year it's also bad. The Jackpot Syrah and Jackpot Pinot Noir were the two bottles I bought in October. They've won a lot of awards for their Chenin Blanc. I don't like that style of wine, so I didn't try, but many people rave about it.
Road 13 has some great dinners on the 13th of each month during the summer, limited to 36 people, that you should attend if you are around that way at that time.

Another good one that I forgot about is Some Young Punks, I have never had a wine I didn't enjoy by them.
Passion has red lips and Fierce Allure are my favourites. They are in that 20-30 dollar range as well I believe.

The wife and I downed a bottle of this last night. We both thought it was really tasty. I was a gift so I have no clue of the cost
Edit: seems very affordable. I will be buying more.

I was in Seattle for the weekend and stopped by Totally Wine. As I previously mentioned, I collect the Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cepages wines. I was looking for the 2009 and 2010 vintages to make my current library up to date. I could have ordered it direct from the winery at $75 per bottle, but then there was shipping on top of that. Totally Wine had one bottle of 2009 and three bottles of 2010 left, and they were only $52 per bottle! My library is complete and I saved about $50.
The store is huge and the staff is really knowledgeable. I also bought a bottle of 2010 Sheridan Vineyards Block 1. It is the highest rated wine from Washington right now at 98 points and has a huge demand. They brought in 14 cases one week ago and have 2 cases left. It was pricy at $116 (with 10% discount for buying six mix and match bottles of wine), but has some really great reviews. I'll cellar it for a number of years and report back sometime around 2020.
If you're in the States, check out Totally Wine. The cheapest bottle they had was $2.07 and the most expensive bottle I could find was $500, so there is a price point for everyone.

Anyone know where I can sell a bottle of wine? I have an old rare bottle that I would like to sell, but so far most online classifieds don't allow alcohol sale.

What wine apps do you guys use? I recently installed vivino and it seems okay but does not seem to have a lot of info on the wine it finds. Maybe I need the pro version?
I would like to know your experiences. Thanks.

Hey Blaster or anyone else knowledgeable on this topic, what winery's would you recommend to tour in the LA area?
Going to find myself there with the Mrs. and I would really like to hit one up. I was looking at South Coast Winery ( http://wineresort.com/) because they have a built in Spa/Hotel.. but have never tried their wine. We would make an entire day/night out of it, but I don't really want to have to drive around or sit on a bus with a bunch of strangers. So I was hoping to have a one stop shop kind of thing similar to the example I gave.

Oh sorry, they were all good. I will be keeping my eye out at the liquor store next time I pop in.
I put them in order of the ones I preferred. I can't give much more detail on them because I'm not much of a wine expert, I just know what tastes good to me.

i will preface my post by saying i know pretty much nothing about wine as i don't drink it, but a local kelowna winery (the vibrant vine) just won an international competition - beating 10,000 other wines to take first place....
Quote:
In collaboration with TricorBraun, The Vibrant Vine’s supplier of glass bottles, the winery participated in the 2013 World Beverage Competition “Packaging of the Year Awards” to win a Silver medal for their spectacular Chardonnay label, which they knew.
But what they didn't know was TricorBraun put their wine in the mix of 10,000 other wines vying for the prize.
"Then they received an email at the end of December that we had won the packaging award again and about how wonderful it was and how wonderful their product (the glass bottles) is,” shares Lewis who says the email was clearly from the packaging perspective and not the wine.
“Then at the last line of the email...oh by the way, well we were there our agent entered your wine into the world wine competition and I thought you might want to know that you have won the best white wine in the world,” laughs Lewis. “As if it was no big deal!”
He read it over again and again and called the packaging company.
“I called them and they said well what’s important to us is that you won the packaging prize and I was just like, have you any idea what it means to win best white wine in the world?!”
After taking a few breaths, he and his wife found the contacts for the 2014 World Beverage Competition in Geneva, Switzerland, to confirm the unbelievable news.
“We got ahold of Geneva and they said yes indeed out of the 10,000 wines you came first, you are the first Canadian winery ever to win a medal at the competition
